There is alot of talk about cracking down on illegal immigration, but talk is cheap. I wonder if it would actually be possible for a future President to actually enforce our immigration laws. In theory they control Homeland Security and ICE and could really crack down if they wanted to. But I suspect that it would impossible for them to really crack down because there are just to many Judges, Business Groups, Congressman and Lobbyists who are supporting an Open Border.

Let me tell you, if I were President, there would be a storm coming. I would mobilize the national guard to work with the border control, and round up all illegals in every major city in the country. Those who tried to resist would be shot dead on the spot. Once rounded up, they would be shipped by armed convoy to Mexico City and let free.
Afterwards, I would mount another sweep to get the rats who got away in the confusion until they were all accounted for.
A wall would be built, and I would put about 50,000 US Soldiers to man the border with orders to shoot and kill anyone trying to come across our border.
Yes, we could secure the border but could it be done politically?
No, because as I stated in another thread the President of Mexico wants his 'trash people' to jump our borders, leaving behind the good, quality people who actually work and are productive. Politics will NOT work with Mexico.
It would be a political firestorm because many in the media are dead set against securing our borders. The majority of the media in the United States is tainted hard to the left, and they know as long as we have open borders it's just a matter of time before the entire country moves hard to the left. So if a President secured our borders and ports, then he would be called every name in the book and branded a racist.
We could literally have rioting in the streets in sanctuary cities and any American citizens that turned out in protest of the illegal aliens would probably be arrested. The time for large scale mass deportations was in the 1970s. Today we would have to dry up the job market, imprison their employers, seize the illegals assets, cut off all federal funding for social programs that weren't illegal alien free, and have the SCOTUS properly interpret the 14TH Amendment to the Constitution as it was intended to be interpreted. That would effectively cut off all anchor babies. In addition we would need to get local citizens involved to garner support. One way of doing this would be to offer the citizen who turns in an illegal alien a cut of any assets seized. We would also need the SCOTUS to authorize speedy deportations which would cut off any rights the illegal has so all law enforcement would have to do is pickup the criminal, seize his assets and toss him over the border, with no appeal possible or permitted.
It would be a rough couple of years, but it could be done. We clearly can't just pickup and deport 20 million criminals overnight, but we can clean up the country piecemeal and through attrition.

Sealing the borders is the first thing to do, then start strictly enforcing the current immigration laws. Good Sir, I am on your side. Legal immigration is good, illegal immigration is not so good.
Simply closing the border with Mexico to foot traffic and anything but commercial vehicles will kill ~60% of the illegal immigrations. Most come across legal as workers and then jet. It will also kill a good part of Mexico's tourism economy(as well as part of Texas' and California's but that's a moot point as it doesn't compare to the savings in school and healthcare issues we would have should the tide be stemmed). If you have ever lived in a city with a major border crossing you will see the throngs walking across the bridge entering "for the day" to work and the thinner throng returning at night.
I still find this whole issue commical. Texas and California have been dealing with this "issue" for ~200 years now and have been carrying the Nation's economy...I mean holding our own just fine. It wasn't until brown folk started showing up in rural Ohio that this became a "problem". Half of this continent is Mestiso of some sort. Get used to it. You live now and will die soon and all of our flag waving will not change the fact that year-by-year America is becoming much more Latin...legaly or illegaly...so learn to speak Spanish...it won't hurt you.
