Not for the wages offered. Often times migrant farm workers are working for brokers. The brokers charge the farmers the minimum wage hourly rate and then pay the migrants on a "piece" rate. That practice will come to a screeching halt if illegals are not in the equation.

Now what do you think will happen when they have to raise wages? You don't think the price of the goods and service would jump or worse yet businesses close or outsource?

Oh, yeah? Then who did the jobs before the illegal invasion?

They didn't just come over here over night. There was a time when Americans didn't think they were entitled and would work for those wages.

So Americans did do the jobs that liberals claim they won't do.

A few years ago their was an ICE raid on a meat packing plant, I believe, and dozens of illegals were arrested. The next day hundreds of legal Americans were in line waiting to apply for those jobs.

I am not sure how you thought I implied that Americans never farmed. My point was that for those wages they would not becuase they feel entitled thus the prices will rise with those wages assuming the busineses can stay afloat.

Prices on everything are going up right now. How do you account for that. Prices never decreased when businesses started hiring illegals. It was the businesses that profited while the tax payers paid for all the entitlements the illegals thought they should have. I have no sympathy for the business owners.

As far as Americans feeling entitled...well it is their country. The Government does have a minimum wage in place right?

Wages are just a very small part of the price of our food. A lot of the produce you buy comes as far away as South America. Some entrepreneurial folks will wise up and find a way of producing seasonal fruits and vegetables closer to home and saving transportation costs. One way this could be done is to take advantage of what are currently problems.

Is there any city in the United States that doesn't have a power plant within two hundred miles? Every power plant generates a lot of heat in the process of cooling the operation. In the winter time this excess heat could be used to heat greenhouses to raise fruits and vegetables. Fish farming would be another use of this waste product. The same heat can be used to air condition in the summer.

Landfills generate tremendous amounts of Methane gas. Instead of this being a problem a little creativity could use this POLLUTANT to maintain growing conditions in the aforementioned greenhouses and fish farms.

Someone with the money to invest will eventually do this IF current regulations can be overcome.

So you want to encurage them to go higher I suppose? This isn't about making anybody rich, this is about giving business un-needed incentive to further raise prices.

Nice pie in the sky ideas but that doesn't change basic economics and incentives. There are local farms now that illegals work on for cheap that helps keep cost down no matter how much you want to downplay labor cost. I am not sure how raising the wage and benefits of these workers is not going to affect prices. If anything it may encourage more imported food and thus hurting the local economy even further.
