I'd say that you have problems with sarcasm detection, but what MrWookie47 said is basically in line with a large number of posts I've seen, so I can't blame you.

Such a district only offers Spanish. It's in a state that doesn't require foreign language education. Are students who elect to take Spanish worse off than students who do not?
My high school required 2 years of foreign language, with Spanish being the only language offered because of financial reasons.

My daughter's elementary school requires her to learn Spanish. It is very annoying. No other languages are offered. I find that somewhat offensive. Why aren't kids being given the option to study Italian or French or Russian or Hebrew?

You move here voluntarily you should acquire English fluency as soon as possible. You should not demand interpreters or any other accommodations at public expense. You certainly should not demand that I learn YOUR language.

Far too many illegals and nitwit advocates seem to believe that monolingualism is a perfectly understandable choice just as long as the person in question is an illegal. So they have no problem chiding Americans for not speaking Spanish even though many Americans have no use for the language other than to speak with illegals. Then they turn around and defend the actions of someone who lives here illegally for twenty years and still remains stubbornly ignorant of even rudimentary English.

The double standard grows wearisome when repeated endlessly.

Is there a single person posting in this thread who has expressed this double standard?

Many illegal immigration advocates do so. They shrug when confronted with someone who has lived in the US for decades and still does not speak English. They then turn around and demand that Americans learn Spanish. I've heard it time and again.
