Wait....wait.....wait... I can still hear it.. "They are only doing the jobs that Americans don't want to do".. There are lots of jobs that able body Americans want to be doing but are not available due to open borders. Most work on new construction homes are subcontracted out. A legal person will get the job but most of his crew will be illegal. This keeps the wages suppressed in each trade. As competition increases for each job, subcontractors can under bid each other with the knowledge that their cost for wages for their crew is less because its filled with illegals. And down it goes. When I was in the trades we had a steady increase in wages from the early 80's till around the mid 90's. Then I saw more and more illegals flooding my trade. That's when I saw a leveling out then a dip in wages through the 2000's. Once it got to the mid 2000's it was flooded, with the economy in the trash people were back to the wages of the mid 90's.
Yup, it's a race to the bottom for sure. I have a friend who is a contractor and it is so difficult for him to compete on price with illegals. They're ruining the industry.

As the buyer, we the homeowner have a right to tour the property under construction. When I built my home 13 years ago I was here everyday.... I fired the mason because he was using labor that he refused to verify were in fact legal. My property, I have the right to reject illegal labor. All he had to do was show me their green cards. By the way his replacement only cost me a few dollars more and they were all locals. Hmmm I wonder if he paid his laborers the going wage, or pocketed the savings? I know he didn't pass the savings on to me.

Most of these are good paying middle class jobs. The media likes to talk about off-shoring of jobs. What about good middle class jobs that are being stolen right here in america?? I don't think we need to close our borders just enforce our immigration laws instead of making it attractive to come here illegally. Jobs, benefits and birthright citizenship are the incentives. Remove them and stop granting/promising amnesty every few years.

We read that the number of new homes being built is on the increase. They portray this as a good thing . My question is are they still using ILLEGAL ALIENS to build new homes as they have in the past? America needs to demand that the new homes are not being built by the illegal invaders.We have too many unemployed carpenters who are citizens for this to be allowed. People who hire the undocumented workers need to have the homes torn down until they can build them legally.

Very few contractors verify if an applicant can work legally. The illegal earns less than an American citizen or a legal immigrant which means more profit/less payroll expense for the contractor. I used to get mad at the illegals for being in the country illegally and working here illegally. Now I blame the source of the problem: the ones who HIRE the illegals. They are sell-outs including our government. If our own government doesn't enforce laws already written then no one will enforce the laws. The Democrats want the illegals for the hope for future votes (when illegals become legal and then become citizens) and the Republicans want the illegals so their CEO buddies that run corporations can earn more profits by keeping labor costs down. The illegals are here to stay whether we like it or not.
I haven't encountered illegal plumbers or electricians yet, but it wouldn't surprise me. Seems like every other trade associated with remodeling/home construction has already been overrun by illegals.

The employers and their illegal workers are equally to blame. Illegal aliens aren't the innocents in all of this they know right from wrong also. Democrat businessmen also hire illegal aliens. Agreed and IMHO we're heading BACK into a bad recession. A friend told me today that many businesses are closing down here in Bullhead City putting more and more people out of work. 1 good way to open up jobs for Americans is to REALLY hit illegal aliens AND their employers where it hurts. In their wallets and maybe some jail time.
