The Ideal you can get a work Visa is crazy. Coming from Ag states the process is all most automatic and Migrant workers do It every year. This way they are monitored, pay taxes, use the local economy and go home.

All good!

The problem is the White House Cherry Picks laws that they enforce and makeup some new ones while Obama is at it. If we would just follow and secure the boarder many of these problems would go away.

Then we can have a level conversation about up dating the Visa Program and actually speak to what kind of Immigration the US really needs. WE do not need more poor and entry level people.

Exactly we need the right kind of immigrant. We produce a bumper crop of low skilled and low education people on our own. We have no need to import more.

first of all anything on youtube can be tampered with or edited to say about anything, or just put together for pure propaganda, so most of us are not going to watch something that long that may or may not be accurate. Next: we do have a workers visa policy: maybe not best but we have one. Next, there are few people that have a problem with immigrants coming to our country, as long as they have employment lined up prior to arrival and do not expect to live off the dole for one minute. and most of all, they need to come here legally, there lies the problem; I am sure you know that word!!!

No, the system we have now for migrant workers isn't perfect and yes, the farmers, many of them would rather hire illegals than pay decent wages and yes, even when decent wages are offered many don't want to work that hard. So, the system does need work, but the problem lies more with illegals and those who get here and don't want to do anything except live off our government.

Most of us are products of immigrants, but when our families came to America, they worked from day one for whatever they could get, they did not depend on any form or welfare and they learned to speak English as quickly as they could. Those are the types of immigrants we want to see again.

It takes place in western NY where dairy farmers are in dire need of workers. The work is really hard and shifts work 24/7. Some guys do 16 hours a day. People get pooped on, pissed on, manure is everywhere and up your ankles.

The farmers explain no americans are willing to work at their farms therefore they have to resort to hiring illegal workers or be pushed out of business. The reporter drives to an unemployment center and proposes jobs at a dairy farm to unemployed americans and none will accept the offer but one lady. The hispanics he proposes the jobs to are willing to start asap.

The visa you are referring to only covers seasonal work. Dairy farms need workers year round. They are not the only businesses in that situation, all need that legal and appropriate measures be taken that will take into account the current circumstances.

Issues with H1-B exist but the current workforce still can't fill all advertised skilled positions. But this thread tackles mainly the issue of illegal cheap labor and its root causes. Jobs at the dairy farms pay around 10 dollars/hour. In order to attract americans farmers would be forced to double or triple that amount. As a direct consequence, the price of food would rise.

A lot of companies rely exclusively on immigrants to fill their positions. Why not give all of their employees legal visas to work at these specific places ? Then they would pay taxes. Allowing in legal immigrants is not a matter of generosity. It is meant to meet the expectations of the economy.

In the video one farmer bought machines after some of his crew was deported. He explains machines are a lot more expensive.
and you believe everything you see and read: didn't your daddy teach you to believe 1/2 of what you see and nothing that you hear? Sorry these videos are put together to prove a point and are usually exaggerated.

No load of milk would pass the bacteria count if they were that dirty.
Everything in the video is just an optical illusion then.

Back to the three groups. A legal immigrant is a green card holder who (hopefully) becomes a citizen, and thereby, an American. Which makes them eligible to work for anyone, anywhere in the U.S. As soon as that farm worker gets his green card, he's going to demand a raise or look for better employment because he can. That's part of being an American. You have upward mobility. It's a beautiful thing which brought (and brings) people here.

An unreasonable approach would be granting 10,000 dairy workers a green card when only 1,000 temporary employees are needed. That is 9,000 cases of low skilled and unwanted people who have committed fraud to be part of the 10,000. And passing something like that invites 27,000 more illegal aliens to try it.
Issuing work visas that allow employment for a specific company exclusively (like the H1-B) could address that.

Uh; with all of the UNemployed US citizens there; I don't see a "need" for any kind of H1B visa for probably 95 percent of the fancy jobs that need to be filled.

Exactly. We want immigrants who want to be American citizens. Who want to assimilate, and are proud to be citizens of the United States. Who want to work and pay their fair share of taxes, instead of making a bee line to the nearest welfare office. We want people who are proud of their communities, not people who hang the countries flags of who they just left because they were so miserable there, and NOT turn the American flag upside down underneath it.

America has gone through depressions. I wasn't born yet, but I've read and heard a lot about it. They went hungry, but they didn't go begging for help from the government. They wanted to work for their money and food. Neighbors were good about trying to help other neighbors with food if they had it, but they offered. People didn't just go around asking for it. The men and women worked very hard for every little thing they got. I know that my family probably would have died of hunger before my parents went on welfare.

Why can't these other countries put get a grip on their own people? I know a lot of people think everyone should have 25 kids if you want them, but I disagree. If they aren't able to take care of them and provide for them instead of going on welfare, they shouldn't have them. Look at China. They have limited the amount of kids people have because of their vast population.

This is what we tell my grandson when he thinks he can't do something, and he's only 2 years old. We tell him to "Put on his big boy pants and do it." Then he tries and tries until he gets it. He doesn't throw his hands up in the air and take it to someone else to fix after we say that. So, to all of the other countries, "Put on your big boy pants and solve your own problems!"

America does NOT need immigrant workers when we still have millions of unemployed and millions more sucking offa the welfare tit. If Americans are forced to become hungry they'll take whatever job they can find just like they did during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl era.

Actually no we don't and the folks who are harmed the most are blacks and other minorities that compete for the same jobs as illegals. The irony is that these same people voted the very folks into office that support illegals. The Democratic Party is just a howl to watch. People voting for their own destruction.
