Maybe Americans should think about checking out other countries if their citizens are better prepared.

And we've heard time and time again how we need bright foreigners for our tech and math because Americans can't do the job.
Is this just Americas latest love affair with foreigners because of Trump? People wonder why people like him, well he's the only one who seems to like anything American.
I have never heard anyone claim that people from other Countries are better than Americans, but I think it's pretty clear that we are going to have to rely upon physicians from other Countries until such time that we decide to put some money into training our own.

Why not concentrate on absorbing them into our system.

The answers to why not have been posted in here over and over and should be obvious by now.

The LEFT embraces non-assimilating immigrants because they will destabilize the country, which makes it easier for the LEFT to complete the transition to the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of America.

A nation of people who share a common language and customs, can better cooperate in the defense of person or property from attack.

A nation of people who cannot communicate and have different customs, will not cooperate.

For the predators, the latter is preferred over the former. A nation divided into unintelligible factions is doomed to collapse.

One language = one nation united.

We don't. Liberals are not the American corporations and American business owners who knowingly hire undocumented workers.

When Georgia passed it's strict immigration law a few years ago, all the pickers fled, leaving millions of dollars in crops to rot. How many unemployed citizens ran down there to pick crops in 108 hell heat for 7.25 per hour (they wouldn't do it for 12, for that matter).... None. Instead, they sat around bitching about the high price of peaches and how all the "illegals" are stealing the jobs.

Als, they contribute to their local economies every time they purchase goods and services, and when they work for corporations with a false Social Security number, they pay into Social Security which citizens benefit from.

Shouldn't we? If we can't pump out talent then we should be asking why not instead of grabbing the talent from around the world. I understand it will take some time but the attitude is depressing. It's like our country has a revolving door.

But yet Bland Farms had no such problems. Do you know why that was? It was because they used the agricultural worker visa program. Thus all their workers were in this country legally.

The farmers that had problems were the sleazy farmers who refused to use the guest worker visa program. These sleazy farmers wanted to hire cheap, exploitable, illegal labor. When their illegals fled, these farmers reaped what they had sown. Hmmm...payback is a you-know-what.

Americans are the corps and business owners who do most of it.

True, if illegals leave over night we will have some crops rotting until we figure out how to use technology and Americans to pick crops. To not work on that and say we have no working hand and our hands are tied to illegal workers is defeatist and just an excuse. It's all about money.

When my mom was growing up the college kids would pick the watermelons for money every year. They had labor unions for farmers and made sure the workers conditions were good.

Since they got rid of the laws they've developed harsh farming conditions not fit for anyone. They use tools like the short hoe that once were outlawed in the field because it was back breaking. They work long hours with no extra pay, and some never see the pay promised. Since the regulations are gone and the illegals can't complain they brought harsh working conditions back. Women have it even worse and are raped, they have no way to fight back.

It will be a process that they could be transitioning to right now but instead they and many Americans are just fighting to keep illegals here because they don't want to spend any profit on making it fit for Americans to work in compliance with the labor laws.

"During cleanup after the hurricane you could see the difference in treatment between American workers and illegals some hired.
Diaz was put to work in a residential neighborhood that had been flooded. The American workers who were involved in the cleanup, he noted, had been given masks, gloves, boots and sometimes special suits to avoid infection. No such precautions were afforded Diaz and his crew of undocumented immigrant workers. "We were made to work with bare hands, picking up dead animals," he says. "We were working in contaminated water," tearing down and repairing washed-out homes."http://articles.latimes.com/2011/jun/24/opinion/la-oe-meyerson-undocumented-abuses-20110624

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...se-deportation
^Here instead of paying back wages the contractor just call the police.

If we really need bodies in the field then we should do a guest worker program that has to follow the labor laws and pay these people a decent wage. Then it wouldn't have an advantage, anyone would be willing to work those conditions.

You are correct though, this won't happen over night and some will lose a crop or two. They should prepare and not count on the screaming crowds to allow them to keep illegals for work.

Exactly, there are legal ways. I hope the farmers start to prepare. The last thing Americans should be doing is fighting to keep a slave labor class. That's just disgusting.

We don't have enough medical schools and residency programs, it will take more than time, it will require a Republican run congress to commit money to the issue. If you want to pay even more for healthcare than you do now, then fine..just don't allow Physicians to immigrate to the US.

When technology can be used for harvesting crops it is being used. You can't use harvesters for strawberries and tomatoes. The problem is we don't have a guest worker program and the no one in congress seems interested in creating one. And we aren't talking about 'losing a crop or two', if you just start deporting farm workers there will probably be 5 or 6 years of lost crops, enough to cause most farmers to go bankrupt. Not to mention, if Trump remains anti-immigrant there is a good chance that people in Mexico and Central America would be afraid to sign up for a guest worker program even if we had a program in place
