I have a question for you. Do you personally know many hispanics who are against illegal immigration? There seem to be very few. I wish there were more hispanics like you and Exedous who would gain a backbone and realize what illegal immigrants are doing to this country.

This isnt an attack, just a question out of curiosity. Its just, the media always talks about "courting the hispanic vote" (aka. amnesty for illegals) but I am sure there are some hispanics who dont think cutting in line and taking advantage of Americans is right......right?

For those who don't believe this, it's only because they choose not the because to affect hasn't hit them. There's nothing we can say or do to convince them otherwise. It will take something drastic to happen, and that's a shame because by then it just may be too late.
That is the true definition of "Shallow Minded People".

As you stated.

Denial is not a river in Egypt.

For the record: about a year ago a Latina gave me a piece of her mind about her anger against illegal immigrants-------Hispanics ones included.

I was startled to say the least.

Note that this lady was definitely Mestizo------so no MEChA type could accuse her of being a 'racist Anglo' due to her views.

Here in the Phoenix Metro area, there have been a LOT of examples of LEGAL Hispanics "turning in" illegals -

What's a hispanic?

Hispanics with long roots in the USA, whose families have been here for many generations seem to have the same attitudes as any other Americans. They have no connection to the Mexican government, they aren't interested in having wages drop because anyone in the world can simply move here and take jobs from Americans. Culturally they are American and they don't usually seem to want the USA to become just like Mexico.

Hispanics that are from other backgrounds like Puerto Rico or Cuba also don't usually seem all that big on open borders or massive illegal Mexican immigration.

The only ones who seem open borders have a vested interest in them. They profit by hiring illegals, even if it's the Mexicans coming here that want to bring along their many servants because they would never dream of paying decent salaries to a live-in nanny. Or they are part of the Mexican nationalist movement that wants to make the USA a part of Mexico.

These people actually aren't usually in favor of massive immigration from every country. They don't care that in Mexico people are well-fed but the Haitians are having to eat dirt -- it's not about impoverished people throughout the world coming here to have a better life, it's about Mexicans having unlimited rights to come here.

They believe that Mexico has unlimited rights to use the USA to solve it's social problems rather than make the effort to fix them, that Mexican culture is superior and should replace American culture.

Remember that there is no Hispanic 'race'.

It is an arbitrary political label only.

I have a friend of mine who is an Ashkenazic Jew; born/raised in Mexico with no Indian or Spanish heritage------yet thise gentleman considers himself to be both Mexican and Hispanic.

I would say that a large number of "hispanics" with very long roots in the USA are against massive illegal immigration.

There are different kinds of "hispanics" in the USA. There are those of the SW USA whose roots go way way back, their families have lived in the USA before it became the USA and they're as American as apple pie -- but they aren't the majority. There are Cuban and Puerto Rican hispanics who came more recently, arriving since the 1960s. There was a influx of immigrants from Mexico around 1910 that came with the Revolution in Mexico, they didn't agree with the direction of their country, many were not impoverished.

You won't run into as many of these because they've been outnumbered in recent years.
