Anybody know why more Mexicans are fleeing? As somebody who lives in south texas I can say with absolute certainty that the # of Mexicans crossing has gone down compared to decades ago and it absolutely is mostly other Latin Americans. The vast majority seem to be Venezuelans. I have met a ton of them. I am guessing there is a very specific reason more Mexicans are crossing now. I wonder if things are getting even worse

I don't know why the US would accept anyone from Mexico under an asylum application.

Mexico has a better economy than a huge percentage of countries in the world - GDP growth is not huge, but the 2 percent range is not bad. They have freely elected government officials at local, state and federal levels which is much better than a huge number of countries. The schools, hospitals / medical care are generally good and the country produces plenty of food for the population plus for the export market. Heck there are hundreds of thousands of Americans that choose to live in Mexico so there must be some things going OK there. Yes there are cartel activities in certain parts of Mexico, but 99 percent of the people learn what areas should be avoided to stay out of trouble. No reason for that to be a blank card reason to seek asylum in the US.

Between the cartels and watching the world go by ie all the migrants heading north I guess some are saying no more, it's time for them to go as well.

Also funny that on another thread, one of our forum Democrats, who claims to not support illegal immigration yet emphatically supports Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas, tried to fame the fact that apprehensions were UP on the US/Canada border as some kind of “win” for Democrats and Joe Biden.

This situation is such a disaster, but we know those with the “vote blue no matter who” mindset will likely prevail in 2024.

Oh well, maybe when the next President of Mexico takes office, Democrats will want to move there and maybe offset some of this nonsense. Aren’t both of the candidates “strong” women with socialist tendencies, who, like Democrat women, are ‘so strong’ to the point where they want and crave government in their lives to help them along from cradle to grave?
Biden apparently doesn't know what the criteria is to claim asylum. You'd think that a president of all people would know what its. Fleeing poor countries is not one of them!

Getting worse? The only valid claim for asylum is persecution not that things are getting worse economically or that crime is increasing in Mexico.

Not a valid asylum claim! The reason most of them come here is for economic opportunity and that is not a valid claim either!

Ok? Where did I mention anything about asylum? I am simply asking what is driving Mexican families to cross now.

We should start doing more business with Latin American countries instead of China and putting our factories there or this will never end.

3rd world hellhole here we are. If we don’t start locking up politicians and enforcing existing immigration laws immediately we’re doomed.

A 10 year minimum for these politicians. Start today!
