The woman, an undocumented immigrant, was initially turned over to Border Patrol after telling police the child had been left in the tub for an extended period, Manrrique said.
But after authorities determined that the injuries did not match up with her story, she was returned to county custody and bond was raised to $75,000, police said.
"After examining the child it was apparent that something more graphic had happened," Manrrique said. "It's possible that she submerged the child in boiling water."
Alvarado likely waited more than a day before taking the wounded infant for medical attention, police said.
If she is convicted of the second-degree felony, Alvarado may face up to 20 years in prison.

Again JDubsmom people miss the point and all they can do is mock. We have enough dirtbag criminals who are Americans and who have a right to be here. We have enough of our own trash -we don't need the rest of the world's rapists, child abusers and murderers. Deport all illegals and we can use the resources to take care of the American criminals. It is a shame that a mockery is made out of the fact that police, fire and other resources are overexhausted due to millions of illegals who have no right to be here. Legal Americans are shortchanged by resources being used on those who do not belong here.

Truer words. For years we had to read and listen to all the warm and fuzzy BS from the MSM, our government, LaRaza and other ethnocentric biased sources. Now that the truth is finally being printed and we are trying to keep abreast of what is happening to OUR PEOPLE in OUR COUNTRY, we get attitude and personal attacks simply because we post/discuss the cause and negative affects that pertain to illegal immigration.
Personally, if I were a legal latino immigrant I would redirect that anger to the sources who are responsible for their situation. I would also write letters to those ethno centric pimps that have deliberately lumped all latinos and the illegal aliens of their ethnicity. They are getting paid by the numbers. That's who is creating the tensions and the perpetrating the criminal acts.
But of course as we both know common sense is not so common amongst certain people who feel the need to blame others because delusionally they insist that nothing is ever their fault in the quest of perpetual victimhood.

Thank you! If all of SDPD weren't pinned down in Linda Vista and S E San Diego dealing with Illegal Immigrant carp there would be more for the other subdivisions. But the Illegal enablers won't get that.

Yes, they're here illegally, and yes, it's wrong and a lot needs to be done--I have no argument with that. Unless you choose not to live in reality though, it's not a simple black and white issue, and highlighting such stories really isn't too constructive.

What I think the problem is -- many including politicians tried to shove this issue down our throats, saying that it was fine for these people to break our immigration laws and commit felony document fraud and identification theft because they were hard workers and had such great family values.
It turns out they don't. They have very high illegitimacy rates, child abuse and domestic abuse rates. They certainly do not have better family values than any American group and certainly aren't justified in breaking every law they find inconvenient for their great family values because they lack them.
