If we are in a recession with no jobs why are they still coming illegally? (medical, illegal immigrants)

Another aspect that needs to be taken into consideration is that many border-trespassing illegals are poor and may have little to no education thus it's likely that may have little to no knowledge of basic economics or are uninformed about the recession.
Because "here", we do have jobs....some of them paying rates unacceptable to local American help, but perfectly 'OK' for the needs of illegals. And even if they DON'T get jobs, at least here, they can eat...and get medical care....and, if all goes well and they "agitate" loudly enough, and long enough, conventional wisdom says that eventually, we'll 'cave', and they'll get to remain, legally. In the very WORST case scenario possible, the only penalty is that they'll be 'sent home'...which is where they were before they came. And even THAT is pretty unlikely to happen. Get sent 'home', and you're free to try again, tomorrow. Everything to gain, nothing to lose.
In any case, immigrating here illegally beats the HELL out of staying home, and 'doing without'. For the illegal immigrant, it's a 'no brainer'. Stay home and live in poverty, or come here, endure a few unkind remarks, and 'win the jackpot' (relatively speaking). From the standpoint of anyone considering immigrating here illegally, it makes sense..it has virtually NO serious 'downside', and is certainly faster, simpler, and easier than immigrating legally...and, when amnesty 'happens', it will put the persistent illegal YEARS ahead of those going through the arduous process of coming here the legal way.

That's right. Between the food pantries, homeless shelters, 'free' medical care, education for their offspring, sympathetic churches, friendly Mexican consulates who will make sure they are aware of all the services they are 'entitled' to, latino activists who continually make a scene on their behalf, MSM reporters who are willing to report their long, sad tales of woe; ethnic advocacy groups, WIC, free school breakfast and lunch for the entire familia, free interpreters as needed and (depending on where they live) free winter coats, free school supplies and help with heating bills in the winter. Here in IL, I suspect it would be easier for an illegal alien to get an audience with one of our local politicians than it would for me.
Combine this with a group of people whose MO is 'let's see what I can get away with!' and you have a recipe for disaster.
The mind-bending costs, according to Edwin Rubenstein, National Research Center, 2008 report, showed unlawful immigration costing American taxpayers $346 billion annually across 15 federal agencies.
As long as illegal immigrants are willing to work for less than minimum wage there will always be jobs for them.
I drive by the same parking lot every day and for the last 3 months I've seen the same Illegals in front of their cars (disturbing as that is) so these guys are not working. Granted they at least appear to be trying but how are they getting by? It has to be social services to some aspect. I sure as heck couldn't go 3 months without working.
Welfare handouts and of course the drug trafficking.
Mexico's unemployment rate is lower than the USA's.
