News that the state will cancel the car registrations of possibly thousands of undocumented immigrants has caused panic and created rumors among those living in central Ohio.

Before Aug. 24, a loophole in the state Bureau of Motor Vehicle's policy allowed illegal immigrants to register cars in their names by using a power-of-attorney form, even if they didn't have a driver's license.

The Ohio Department of Public Safety closed the loophole after delaying a crackdown on possibly fraudulent registrations for more than a year.

"I'm not an advocate of people breaking the law, but it's more complicated than that," said Ana Perales-Lang, a Latino community volunteer. The policy directly affects the children of illegal immigrants and other family members, many of whom are legal residents or U.S. citizens, she said.

Whining, flag waving, legal challenges, and baby waving to follow, I assume ?

Others find it easier to abandon their lives here and head home.

"There are a lot of people along Sullivant who are buying tickets to go home," Alachan said.

"They're saying, 'They don't want us. There's not a lot of work. I'm going to leave.' "
This is what we have been saying all along. Take away the freebies and the benefits, in this case the benefit of registering your car in Ohio in spite of the fact that you are in the US illegally, and they will leave.

Opponents of illegal immigration hope the new policy will make undocumented workers so uncomfortable that they'll move elsewhere.

What I've been saying all along. Turn up the heat and get the criminals off our roads via self-deportation. No one has to be deported, or arrested just simply go home.

Yes, breaking laws will always have an effect on the lawbreaker's family. Moral of the story is don't break laws if you don't want your family to get hurt or inconvienced. Laws apply to everyone including those with families.

Bingo! Obey the law and your life will be a heck of a lot less stressful.

Very simple truth. When Dad gambles away the rent money, the kiddies lose their home. When Mom gets arrested, the children go to foster homes...or worse.

Want to give your kids a stable childhood? Start by staying out of trouble yourself...

No it's not more complicated than that. Even if you believe people should have no respect for immigration laws, that immigration should not be legal or fair, you can believe in other laws. Nothing gives illegals the right to break all the other laws they don't feel like following.
