American isn't an ethnicity. It is a nationality. Bloodlines have nothing to do with nationality either. Bloodlines are about race. There are no German, Spanish, Irish, etc. bloodlines as they aren't races but nationalities.
just exactly how is it the land of opportunity? as long as you work hard you can work your way to the top? or are there many jobs?
I guess it's got more opportunity than other countries? Can someone with experiences from other countries comment on this.
There are quite a few advantages that some might never consider. For example an American passport opens a lot of doors that say a passport from Somalia wouldn't.
The USA has a heft support net that many countries don't enjoy.
Keep in mind $7 an hour is big bucks to many. 210 baht in Thailand 1680 baht for 1 day of work. Some people there are happy to make 3000 baht in a month. So one can see how they think it is so much better here. What they don't know is you would be hard pressed to find an apartment for less than 400 a month or 12000 baht. The reality is that our cost of living is much higher as well as our taxes. But then for many illegals taxes really dont matter anyway.

I'm gonna disagree there. If "Mexican" can be an ethnicity for a Mexican citizen, so can "American" for a US citizen.
Tho a "Hispanic" can be of any race and not all speak Spanish. Ted Cruz ain't "Hispanic" IMHO because he was born in Canada tho he claims it.
We are going off topic here but Cruz's father was Cuban. Most Cubans have Spanish ancestors and they speak Spanish and therefore most are of Hispanic ethnicity. Yes, Hispanics can be of any race and I have never said otherwise. Being born in Canada does not make Ted Cruz a non-Hispanic. You learn ethnicity and culture from your parents. You are once again confusing the words nationality, race and ethnicity.
