Hi guys,

Can I ask how bad is the employment situation in Illinois? Because I'm planning to move to the Illinois to get a job, how often does a person gets unemployed with a cause or not? What do you guys do to overcome it?

Do you recommend someone from foreign country to get a job in IT industry? Hope the unemployment rate isn't that bad in IT industry.

Hope everyone of you will give me an advise, opinion etc.

Pretty bad. There are places worse though.

Yes, check out Nevada or Arizona. No construction to keep those economies going.

What information do you seek? You are replying to a post that is four years old. Much has changed since it was posted.

Yes, you can apply. But, if you are fired for not following company rules, you will probably be denied. You can appeal, but, you will have to make a strong case as to why you were wrongfully terminated.

Im new but will try to offer something here to the posted question that was already written and cannot be emphasized enough,
---------------------------ILLINOIS IS AN EMPLOY(MENT) AT WILL STATE--------------------
what this basically means is that your employer doesnt really have to guarantee you anything that isnt covered by federal or state laws(or covered by the EEOC). The main thing is this employer dont want to anything other than what they must,if they can get around paying you unemployment-they will.
And it can be dragged out for months and even when granted they can come back and "claim" you were
OVER-PAY(ED)(MENT)
and ask for it back from you.

Friend, maybe you haven't heard ILLINOIS is one of the most corrupt citys in America-

so thicken up your skin, read LOTS up to date infomation about IDES-(when you go pack a lunch, something to read and your best patience) and maybe, just maybe find a lawyer who wont you too bad and pay him/her steadily. Thats as much as I can offer in short. God bless and God luck my man.

ictheshy2013: Illinois politics and its state of fiscal affairs is not the topic. It has not one thing to do with this thread.

There are two questions to be answered.
1- Can an employee be terminated after being disciplined for attendance?
2- Can said employee then claim unemployment benefits?

To claim benefits you must work X hours each quarter. Presuming you do work enough hours, then the question would be this: Why can't you get to work on time? This is the problem you must resolve if you want your job. .
