Has anyone else seen the new Indiana license plates?

All I have to say is....seriously? It's as if someone looked at the plain blue plates and said "Hmmm... these have too much color. How can we make these even more plain with just enough decoration to tease those who want better looking plates?"

One would think that a plate celebrating Indiana's bicentennial would feature SOMETHING that shows how Indiana has contributed to the nation in the past 200 years.

I don't really care what the plates look like, I just wish they were not made so cheap and we didn't have to get a new one every 5 years.

(yes, I know it is a state law. I am saying it is a stupid law.)

Some states replace them every 3, 7, or 8 years. It's actually a good requirement (5 is fine, it could probably be 7 though) because the reflective sheeting wears off the plates. It also enhances security to change the design every now and then.

The plates in Kentucky for example, are made much sturdier and hold up a lot longer. Those types of plates do not need to be replaced every 5 years. I would like to see Indiana go in that direction; but that doesn't have much to do with the new plate.

I don't mind the new plates.

I like replacing them every 5 years because that's just long enough that the screws don't get rusted in place. My wife finally had to change her Colts plate last year and had to go to the dealership to get the plate off because the screws were rusted solid.

As for the plate itself, it's not great, but I like it better than the boring solid blue with nothing else we have now.

Well at least with Indiana's plates, if you don't like them, they only stick around a couple of years. I have lived in Indiana since 1993, and the design has changed a number of times since. Unlike Illinois which changed once in the early 1980's and didn't again for more then 20 years. When I replaced my Illinois plate with the first Indiana one, the Illinois plate had been on the car so long it had rusted! Yes, the plate was rusty!

Yeech... The bold blue and white didn't need to be changed! I'm not looking forward to putting that new plate on my car! Those colors blend in with my bland car.

Personally, I really liked the solid blue plate...I think it looked classy. This new plate looks "gimmicky" and cheap to me.

I saw one of the new plates on a car while I was out and about today, I think it looks better in real life; not that that is saying much I guess.

I don't think it's too bad. Ohio's new plates are very elaborate, but I think they're some of the ugliest plates I have ever seen.

Does this mean In God We Trust plates are gone? I'm guessing no....
