My two favorite places are on West 38th Street, El Maguey and La Guanaquita. La Guanaquita rarely staffs people who speak English, so, be ready for that.

I also like La Posada at the corner of Washington and Belmont. It is more a no-frills type of place, and the girl at the counter is usually the only worker that speaks English, just be prepared for that.

I think El Meson off of Michigan Rd on the north side is pretty solid. It's pretty basic Mexican food, but it's good.

Acapulco Joe's downtown has to be the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. It's dirty and the food sucks. I gave it two chances and I will never go back. Taco Bell's food is superior to that place. It boggles my mind how that place manages to stay in business with all the restaurants nearby. Someone should open up a *good* Mexican restaurant downtown.

I tried a place called La Parada this weekend on recommendation from a friend of mine. It is incredible; if you are into the generic crap at El Sol you might not care for it. La Parada is at the corner of New York and State.

I won't claim to have eaten at every Mexican place in greater Indianapolis, but I will say this: my wife and I went to Mexico for our honeymoon, and since then the only place that's even close to what we ate on our trip is Adobo (downtown). The margaritas, guacamole, tequila bar, entrees/menu items...everything. It is super authentic and very delicious.

I absolutely love Adobo at 110 E. Washington downtown. We have even gone to their special wine or tequila dinners. Amazing food and great service.
Check out their Sunday/Monday fixed price dinners. Four courses for $19.99.'s
