Hey there,

I stumbled across this website while I was doing some background search on the apartment complexes around South Indy / Greenwood areas. I have a few questions and I hope to get some answers form this community.

My fiancee and I are a young couple looking to relocate to above mentioned areas. Both of our incomes combined are enough to buy a nice house in a nice community, however we are thinking about not making the commitment of buying a house since we are always looking for better opportunities.

What we are looking for is however, a nice, SAFE, friendly apartment complex/duplex to move in for a short period of time (12 months). The monthly rent is not an issue if the place is right. We looked at couple places such as Sundance apts., Overlook at Valley Ridge etc. Although these places all looked very nice from outside, I read too many horror stories online anywhere from Gun shots to drug dealing in these areas.

If you have stayed in an apt. or duplex in the above mentioned areas where you have nothing but nice things to say about, or if there is a certain community that is well known for its safety, friendliness, professionalism, etc. please feel free to make a comment and we will look into it.

Thank you in advance!

Talking Indy/Gnwd/Whiteland

Interesting, you are moving to the area I have lived in for the past 15 years. I recently moved to Charlotte NC. Love it down here, but it is NOTHING even close to Greenwood. I do miss the cost of living and being able to buy a home for 60-100 thousand. Prices, crime etc everything is more here.
I would suggest you buy a home in the Franklin area. That is a very up and coming town. Some homes may be out of your price range by now. There are many other good areas, but not many to rent/apt-wise.
It would be good for you to hook up with one of the three churches I attended: Greenwood Christian, Community Church of Greenwood and Emmanuel of Greenwood. They each have about 4000 members. That would be an excellent place to find the best neighborhoods, schools, prices etc. They all have excellent pastors and GREAT members. The church that knows me is Emmanuel. Good luck!!

Hey thanks for the response. However, like I said we are really not looking to buy right now. We really would like to rent if we can find a place that suits what we are looking for.

If you don't mind my asking, if rent isn't an issue, why don't you find a cool place downtown?

Downtown is a little bit further up North than we would like. I work in Seymour, which is about 50 miles to Greenwood. So I try to be as close to South part of Indy as possible. Are there no good places to rent in South side of Indy?

Greenwood is a great place to live, sidewalks in the area I'm telling you, a golf course across the street, the rent is affordable. No crime area, I highly suggest. I have a friend that is single and also works in Columbus, he rents there and like to be 15 minutes from downtonw Indianapolis. I'm married with a 3 Yr. old and we also like to be close to Indy but also 30 minutes from the Brown County State Park in the south side.
