Just opened a small (100sh) position in NCHL at$12.36, but I didn't do so because I think that investing in a cruise line company just as the economy is heading into a recession is a good investment, lol. I did so because I'm in the process of booking a couple of cruises on Oceania and I'll receive a total of $500 in onboard credit (basically a 40% tax-free "dividend") almost immediately. Not sure if I would have still done so had the stock still been trading near $24 as it was earlier this year, or God forbid, the ~$60 it was trading at just before Covid hit, but it's nice to pick up the requisite 100 shares now that the stock is down 44% YTD, and down almost 80% from that Pre-Covid high less than 3 years ago.
And on an unrelated matter, I opened a larger position in VOD and added to my position in VALE.
I picked up some VZ too, today @ $43.97. I almost bought some earlier this week when it was ~$50. I would have felt pretty foolish now if I had done so then. On the bright side, if I liked VZ ~$50, I like it a helluva lot better under $44.
I've added a bit more to SNAP at $9.99 today. I'll continue to add as well.
+ User base is growing
+ Revenue was also up YoY
- Expenses are moving in the wrong direction
+ The board authorized $500M of stock buyback
I bought my small position expecting this recovery may take some time, and I'm still on board with that thesis.
I hate the app and anyone who uses it, but when I saw it tank 40% on Friday I bought some as a joke. I set a 60 day limit sell at $39.90 for the heck of it. 4x returns? Be nice
Small position of Embecta (EMBC)
Small position of Palantir (PLTR)
