Interesting news. This from today. Flights to start next May. 90% of direct trade between PR and the US comes through Jaxport. 3 out of 4 shipping lines that service PR are headquartered in Jax. There are tens of thousands of PR nationals or PR decendants who currently live in Jax. Many of the southern Caribbean cruises originate or end in San Juan, PR. This is basically a long overdo connection and great news. Our relationship with PR should be strengthened and enhanced, and finally we get a "semi-internation" direct flight out of JIA. Still waiting on Air Canada to return service to Toronto and for us to get a twice weekly British Airways flight to Heathrow.

I am happy about the flights to PR, this really opens up the Caribbean.
Agree with you heartily about the BA flights to Heathrow.
I was living in Denver back when that city finally got its first BA flights to London.
It was a huge deal when it happened, and BA, as a part of the introduction, sold dirt-cheap seats. I was able to take advantage of this, and would love to do it again. Even without the dirt cheap seats, it would be nice just to have the flights across the Atlantic right out of Jax.

I believe we used to have an Air Canada flight around a decade ago to Toronto. There used to be labels for Air Canada on one of the concourses. Of course it didn't last very long.

I also read where they are exploring bringing back the JAX-LAX flight that was eliminated a few years back. My boss rode that one all the time.
