Anybody care to check in on the status of their homes? I had a friend close about a month ago in Eagle Harbor who is very satisfied with the quality. Feedback on the process?

We are currently building with DF in eagle landing. We've got final plans, just waiting to break ground now. Any particular questions in mind?

were you able to negotiate at all? In Durbin Crossing, they just raised their prices $5,000 across the board. Did you get anything thrown in as an incentive?

22.5k in upgrades is what we got...and they suggested that would be available for the first "few" that moved in (I think we were 3rd, and there are a few behind us already contracted). They have been very accommodating with customizations. Which floor plan are you looking at?

Looking at the Las Palmas II. They used to offer 22.5k, then it was down to 17.5k and now its down to 15k. Beyond that, were you able to get anything else thrown in?

Not anything of note. Shame the upgrades has dropped so much. Las Palmas is a great floorplan. Let me know if you have any other questions

Where do I begin, how about with the build?

First, Dreamfinders installed the wrong subfloor into my second story and told me they would not do anything about it. After several arguments and weeks, they finally installed the floor on top of the other floor; under the stipulation that an engineer would review and approve it, this never happened. Following this instance, during our pre-drywall walk-through, it was noticed that the shower head in the master bath was 6 ft tall as opposed to the requested 7 ft; also 6-9 inches shorter than the other two shower heads. When asked to raise it, we were told they could not go through the fire stop; yet the pipes extending into the upstairs went through it. When we showed Dreamfinders the pictures and asked to raise it to at least the fire stop, the response was it is not going to get changed. Then when the tile for our “upgraded” bathroom was being installed, tile fell from the ceiling onto the bathtub taking out two large chunks from the bathtub I paid extra to have. Dreamfinders epoxyed the bathtub and when I told them that was not acceptable that I paid for a new bathtub and not a damaged one, they held firm that they were not going to replace it. Finally, after weeks of telling me no, I wrote a letter with 7 scholarly references regarding the quality, durability, and maintenance of a repaired tub and told Dreamfinders that in no way was what they were trying to pass off was acceptable. They finally agreed to switch out the tub.

The sale and closing of the home.

Well let me start with the fact that I was told by the sale representative. on more than one occasion, that Dreamfinders covers all closing cost including up to $1,000 of CDD and HOA fees. Then my finance company tells me that CDD fees are not included in the contract. When I addressed what was told to me with Dreamfinders, they reassured me that the finance person was wrong. Well because it all did not feel right, I kept asking. Finally, the sale representative told me that he had told me wrong and in fact had been telling people that for months and I was the first to catch it. I told him that I signed with them under this notion and they should compensate based on what was told to me several times; he told me it’s not going to happen. Closing. I actually haven’t closed yet although Commencement of my home was Oct 1, 2012 and it is now February 21, 2013. Originally, they gave me a closing date of February 1, 2012; now we are almost a month away and nothing. Actually, they gave me a second closing which I drove an hour one way to find out that there was no closing. When I contacted the Sales Manager she said “she did not know why I had that closing date”; however, I had the e-mail were she directed the sales rep to give me a date. The worst part about it was I was at the final walk-through saying I had to leave to go to the closing, and the whole time the Super Intendant knew that there was no CO on my house. I only found this out when I was probing the Sales Manager for my closing date and asking “why they aren’t getting me one”. Crazy thing is my neighbor is also building with them and having similar issues. My Dental Hygienist too! There is more but it really is too much to write!

Like I stated in an earlier post " Run, don't walk away from Dreamfinders Homes ". A person, as well as the company they represent, is only as good as their word. If you can't trust what they say, how can you possibly trust how they build ???
