Check out some of the Northside areas near New Berlin Road and Hecksher Drive. Your husbund might have a little longer drive to work, but I think you may find some areas you will like.

williboy has a point. i am a mom of 4, lived near the foot of the dames point for 10 years, on new berlin road. there are some really slummy areas on oceanway, BUT it is getting better, and the trash is taking the money and running. it gets better every day. the elementary schools in the area are fabulous and the housing is really climbing fast despite what you hear on the news about the rest of our country. you will gain quick equity there. riechenbach realty are good people. honest and will be straight forward with you. my family have known them for years. just stay clear of "the manor" and a few other places. they will know. and your husband could take wonderwood or the ferry. get safetouch security and keep your dogs in a fenced in yard and if it doesnt have one, get one. they dont cost that much. do that, and you will be fine til your love returns. if all else fails, you could truck it out here to callahan. it's safe. see ya!

Navy Federal didnt even mention real estate agents when we spoke to them about loans.
I did get my mortgage with Navy Federal, and they do offer a program called Realty Plus that is on the Mortgage page on their website that guides you to select realtors in your area who are well qualified, and you get a cash bonus for using them. We bought a house for $157,000 and got $942. Navy Federal offers several mortgages, one for civilians, one for veterans, and one for active duty families that all offer 100% financing, and no PMI. That was big for us. We got our seller to pay our closing costs and we specified in the contract that any leftover money was to go towards pre-paids, so the money left over bought us a cheaper APR. Navy Federal also offers White Fence. I talked to the mortgage people in the call center and asked them about Realty Plus and White Fence because I found them on the navy federal website.
