exactly what I'm thinking....

Cheapest way is to rent movies to watch in a comfortable home theater setup and feed the kids healthy snacks.

There used to be one or two theaters in Mandarin. I think one was converted to Office Depot.

For indoor entertainment, have you considered Adventure Landing or Dave and Busters? I wonder how much it costs to rent a canoe or sailboat?

Adventure Landing or Dave and Busters are FAR from cheap!

Dave and Buster's not really really cheap
but good call on AL, probably one of the only few things fun for kids in town.

There's also Mandarin Mill, on San Jose immediately south of 295. It has mini-golf and batting cages.

Dollar theaters, I wish! The last one I remember was in OP across from Youngerman Cir, but it closed several years ago. And come to think of it, it was actually a $2.50 theater, but even that would be welcome these days! Movie prices these days are almost enough to make a broke movie-lover want to movie back to Tallahassee, home of the awesome Cinemark Movies 8. $1 a pop with the occasional $0.50 night. I miss that so much!

Most of Jax's small theaters have closed one by one anyway. The huge complexes (six of them in town, which seems way too few locations for a city of this size) have killed the small theaters. It's a far cry from ten or so years ago when we had neighborhood theaters like Pablo, Litchfield and St. Johns, just to name a few. I think the San Marco and the Playtime drive-in are the only small theaters left.

If ten of you can agree on a movie, I will show it at my house for a dollar each. Popcorn and drinks would be extra, of course....but I will also offer adult beverages.
