I'm not a big drinker or club scene kind of gal. So, what does one do for a night out with the girls / boys / buds?

I do like karaoke and hanging with friends. Of course there are movies and some live music. Oh and the inevitable restaurants. I'm trying to get some buds together next Friday to celebrate / bemoan another year of my life starting.

Go to Adventure Landing! LOL... I kid, I kid. This town really does suck when it comes to nighttime activities.

I agree with you guys. Unless you wanna go out drinking at a bar or go clubbing, this town shuts down at 10PM. For the size it is, thats kinda surprising.

No late night book stores, no late night coffee shops, no cool restaurants that aren't chains that stay open late, etc. And I still cant grasp the fact that there's not even a grocery store that stays open 24/7 in the whole of Jacksonville. No, Wal-Mart Supercenter doesn't count.

Bummer. I just got here (Southside) and was hoping there was something to do around here! Guess I'll start another single ladies club like I did in Palm Coast. From what I see in the Weekend part of the paper here it looks like there are always things going on. I'll be having some of the ladies from Palm Coast up to go to some of the events. This is probably kind of a dead time of year with school just starting back up. I imagine in Sept we'll start to see a bunch of events and festivals and things with it getting busier towards the holidays.

If any of you are interested in belonging to a local Single Womens Group 40-60 DM me.

OMG! You are sooo right!!! Down in Gainesville, we had ALL of these things. I lived across the street from an all night Albertsons, and BOY do I miss that!! We also had this late night coffee shop called Maudes that hosted live music on the weekends. That a great little place.

The only late night bookstores we have are Books A Million, Borders and Barnes and Noble. And these places close at 11 pm!

There's always Dave and Busters ...on the Southside.

Sometimes I find myself riding around thinking where to go/what to do on certain nights.

Back in the day (1980s/90s), we had grocery and convenience stores that were open 24 hours. Nowadays, we have few, and on nights after going out and you want to find a mini-mart that's open past midnight or 1, you have to go driving around.

HAHAHA How true. We had 7-11 or Wawa after a night out. Now I have to tell you that WaWa has THE BEST sandwiches, freshly made, for after drinking or anything else! I miss them so much!

Here's a suggestion. Get to know your neighbors, introduce yourself. Tell 'em it's your bday and you're inviting 'em over for a drink.

Then you can have a blast with some new friends without leaving your house/apartment.
