Hey everyone! My name is Heather and I just moved to Atlantic Beach, FL about two weeks ago! I am 24 and from Virginia Beach, VA. I moved here to be with my boyfriend who is in the military. Anyway, I would love to meet some new people and make some new friends. Any suggestions on clubs I could join or places I can go to meet some new people? I have heard that it can be sometimes hard to make friends here in JAX. My boyfriend is being deployd in April for 6 months and I would love to meet a few people before he goes...

It can be hard to make friends anywhere. Anyway try the metrojacksonville.com site there's always info on clubs and etc. Great site just like this one.

I like Jacksonville! Its really nice here
There are a lot of similarities and many obvious differences. I really like the traffic down here a lot better then Hampton Roads, and I feel that the people are friendlier down here! haha Also, there are a lot more things to do down here. I actually live in Atlantic Beach and I really like the area that I am in. I am still getting use to everything down here, but so far so good! I just wish I knew some people down here to help me enjoy it more

Heather, I'd suggest you find a church. I belong to Community Presbyterian in Atlantic Beach and it's like an extended family when you don't have family around you. Try the 9:45 contemporary service you might like it. It's very casual. You have to get involved in a church though in order to get to know people. I have found just attending on Sunday morning isn't usually enough. Also, If you have time to do some volunteering the history museum in Jacksonville Beach and BEAM always have lots of activities going on.Hope this helps. Welcome to AB!
