Maybe you can, but most other companies and places really are like that.

It dont mean all of them are, usually the ones that really are like this is within chains or major companies that operate more than 1 location. The reason they are like this is the big boss of these companies fell victim to people BSing an interview or flat out let the wrong ones come to power of hiring/management.

Tell you a story last year, this place I had sent in 5-6 apps a year to and in which this guy I know about jumps from job to job after quitting had this lady Manager of the store (This place is actually a salvage store and I have liked going into it many times for some real good bargains) she was the one that called me in 1 day for an interview, I went, wasnt no interview to it, wanted me to sign some paperwork on the application or fill in some voids, that was the end of it. She didnt seem very friendly, it was after that I was hired on by a company at a temporary position for 6 months, come tax time when i went to file taxes for that job, she was in the office there at the time I went in, when she left, she gave me the most oddest stare I ever seen from someone, like saying........"how the hell did you get a job to file taxes?" least thats how I took it.

That point I kind of wondered what exactly is going on around these parts when it comes to hiring.

Wal-Mart I worked for last year, all the ones they hired had 4-5 kids or had family working at that store, I think 2-3 of us was there because they couldnt fill the void with anyone else.

I dont know if this is a Mississippi thing (which wouldnt surprise me none) or its really like this everywhere.

There is always some way in which people rationalize why others were hired and promoted and they were not. This is one of the more common ones.

I dont know if its most common but its the reason it happens usually.

The other reason someone is hired over the next guy, is the fact the one hired knows the hiring manager or people that work there, or if you read some of my topics, its because they are family members.

What I see is they will look at a couple things on a job application.

like:

- How many children you got (if you got 2 or more)

- Are you currently attending school.

- Are you currently working?

of course not all 3 will be on a job application but can be mentioned.

I find a majority of the time businesses target people that qualify under those circumstances and is more willing to offer them a job than someone who is working that is single and independent.

I also find quite often businesses stay within a family when hiring, like hiring an employees friend or relative, so while 2-3 people in one household is holding down jobs, their is that 1-2 independents out there still searching. That is probably a staggering number.

Our economic problems where it is sending jobs to China to India to some extent is a cause, I have reason to believe that more than 2-3 people that are being hired out of the same household is putting as much strain on our economy as well since this will greatly affect spending which is what our economy is built on.

As for the earlier tidbit about hiring practices, my brother in law was hired about 6 times by businesses and was either fired or quit because he had kids.

one guy I know locally has quit a job several times and immediately some how or another jumped to another job instantly, his last one really opened my eyes to ask WTF is going on?, because the place that hired him, I put in 6-7 apps a year.

So what is complaining about it going to accomplish?

After reading that original post... I certainly hope the employment process does not include a written portion for you.
