I applied for a professional position in the Denver area, a large construction contractor. Within about 5 hours the HR person replied to me asking when I would be in the area so I could stop in and talk to some of the executives. She said she really looked forward to hearing from me. I made the mistake by saying I would be in the area soon. I also do not really understand what she meant by stopping in and speaking to them Is this a formal interview? Would you assume they are very interested in me? Thanks!

No, not a interview nor are they interested. Sorry.

Seriously. HR people are busy, they don't just take to people for the sake of it.

I'd treat it as a formal interview and be prepared.
