I dont have any recollection of that but AMC was high on designer interiors.

I drove the Gremlin but I wound up getting a Dodge Monaco two-door hardtop that had every conceivable option that was offered back then except a rear window defogger and I had it added later.

That Dodge cost all of $4885 including dealer prep if there was such a thing back then. Those Dodges were the last of the highway tanks built. The oil embargo started and then all the manufacturers downsized to get more mpg to comply with government mandates.

I've only read about it. I've also read that on some models, a throw pillow was standard equipment! Gee, I wish my old '60 Impala I had in high school came with one!

Nash and then Rambler had as a standard feature the front seats that reclined flat and in combination with the back seats made a bed. There were a lot of chuckles about that.

I cant say whether this feature was carried over to the Hornet, Matatdor, etc.

OK I see the Ward's sign. I think Ward's faced the Sterling side. Anyone remember the "toys" store? "Kingcades"? Can't make out the sign.

How about the dept. or ladies' store next to the toystore?

I am going to guess Kiger and Hayward on the first photo and Walnut and Kiger on the second.

My bones tell me I made a lot of right turns at that first intersection stop sign, where ever it is. Second one probably not.

Based on what I know about your former stompin' grounds I'm sure you traveled many times through both views. In fact, if'n you squint that might be you comin' down the street!

Now that I think about it, that chain link fence in the second photo may be familiar.
