A former Grandview police officer has been charged with a November 5, 2008 murder in Cass County and an October 29, 2010 murder in Jackson County. Prosecutors said a rape charge from the end of June 2011 lead them to connecting the suspect to the two cold case murders.

Gasp. That does it. I'm moving out of KC now that I've heard this.

Is it really helping/informing to post this stuff? Comes across as very sensationalized.

It's interesting and very creepy to know he was underground for so long and able to reoffend. I'm so glad they caught up with him and the rape victim had the courage to come forward. I remember right after we moved here, Kelsey Smith was kidnapped and murdered, and the man they were looking for was from Olathe. I was pretty uneasy, living in south Olathe and having a husband who travels...and no window treatments on a wall of sliding glass doors. Believe me, I got window treatments as fast as I could. Until then, I watched television in the basement at night and relied on the dogs to alert me to any prowlers.

Absolutely horrific, but thank goodness they figured out who did these terrible things. I remember hearing about the murder in Harrisonville and being shocked; Harrisonville isn't perfect but it's not the sort of town you expect to have an unexplained murder.

No one makes you post on these threads. If you don't like reading it, skip it. Is it really helpful/informative for you to put down everyone who posts of any crime in the metro area?

OP, thanks for the thread. I hope they are looking into the Kara Kopetsky coldcase with this former Grandview officer too.
