Hello, I've reached a point where I would like to purse a new job. I have spent the last 12years in hospitality and really enjoy the work. I was wondering if anyone has any helpful tips for obtaining work in one of the many resorts on Kauai. My background has been Front Office Management for a 4diamond property on the mainland and I'm hoping this will carry over to the islands. I'm mainly looking at Kauai because it is looking like my fiancée will be relocating there for a job. Thanks in advance for any ideas. I've done all the basics ie The Garden Newspaper, and Career Builder. Thanks

you can have my job!!! it is easier to get a job if you are transferring from a hotel within the same company and my hotel has had quite a few transfers from the mainland.

Would love the opportunity However I have pretty extensive history with one company however they have no properties on any of the Islands. Still wondering if it is possible to make the move, I don't want to move and not have something lined up. Thanks for you help.

contact them and see what they say. you might have to settle for a part-time entry-level low-paying job to start with, but could probably move up. especially if you're coming during or right before the summer.. good time for tourism jobs. make sure you have plenty of time before you have to have a job as well... most people say it takes at least 4 months although i got 2 part timers in 1 month. i actually think the resorts are the best option for newbies to the island
