Once again visitors make the wrong choice and ignore posted signs and warnings .

A Los Angeles woman was swept to her death from the rocks at Queens Bath, on Kauai.

Her three friends witnessed her being swept off the rocks by a huge wave. They saw her face briefly before she disappeared, and then an arm reaching out, and the what they believed was her white swim suit as she was pulled outside and swept quickly along along the coast .

KFD helos, jet skies, U.S.C.G Helos, and U.S.C G . vessel, searched for the body to no avail.

The gate had been locked for the weekend with high and dangerous surf conditions. There is a warning at the gate that even states of many drownings and deaths that occur here.

When we lived on Kauai, visitors were continually ignoring posted and published warnings island wide.

That applies to the ocean for swimming and snorkeling, high surf, strong currents, and also for the hiking trails, especially the hanakapiai trail and hanakapiai stream, that every visitor JUST HAS TO DO. Even with KFD rescue personnel verba;;u waning people , they just ignore those warnings, same for when locals explain the conditions and those are also ignored. Signs, KONG radio, TV, and newspapers, and ocean safety and beach safety web sites are also ignored .

Maybe, some of those visitors headed over to Kauai will read this and stay safe, alive, and no broken bones.

Maybe, maybe not.

We all want you to have a most fantastic and memorable Kauai visit and return to your homes with your loved ones . We also want you to return to kauai for another visit.

STAY SMART, STAY SAFE. OBEY ALL WARNINGS .....LARGE SURF, STRONG CURRENTS, FLASH FLOODING RIVERS AND STEAMS, HIKING TRAIL WARNINGS, POSTED LANDS, AND DO NOT SWIM ALONE.

You can verify this latest death at Queens Bath by looking it up on the garden island newspaper web site.

I see people (tourists) underestimating the danger of the ocean all the time. They frequently overestimate their abilities and underestimate the dangers. A lot of younger people show a cold shoulder to all the warnings. They see something on YouTube and have to experience it themselves.

It’s unfortunate when people lose their lives. It’s worse when it happens due to their own arrogance or disregard of basic safety precautions.

Once again, thanks for the warning. Has anybody heard whether or not they've found the body?

Frequently, it also seems they know better but since they are only going to be here for a very short time while on vacation, they go ahead and do it anyway and hope for the best. We all know how well that works.

They didn't and they stopped looking.

About 3,600 per year die in the US from unintentional drowning.....

Over 10,000 die per year as a result of drinking and driving

And about 42,000 per year die from opioid overdoses.....

People do stupid stuff.
