As some of you know we were looking to make the move from upstate NY to KY and wanted to stay in the SW corner of the state. Well we decided and put an offer in on a home in Mayfield, we selected a home in the southern part of Mayfield close to the new walking/bicycle park. We should hear something tomorrow if our offer was accepted. I'm pretty sure it's a go as it was a good offer!

We looked at many areas including; McCracken County, Graves County, and Calloway County.
There are GREAT areas with some really nice homes, but this one kept coming up as our favorite.

kygman, thanks for the help in directing us a bit on our journey down there last month.

We are excited.. I will let you know when the offer is accepted!!!!

No charge! Glad to help out! The park has some expansion going on. They're building a little splash park and the the miniature golf course where I work will be moving out there. Hope to meet you when you get settled!

kygman, we definitely will look you up when we get settled! That little park is actually about a block away, that was one of the deciding factors to purchase where we did.

We are not making the hard move until next Sept. our intent is to travel down there every 2 mos. to spend a week or so, then make the permanent move next fall!
We can't wait! Thanks again for pointing us in the right direction!

What's wrong with Mayfield? Western KY is pretty nice. I can see someone thinking that a move to Harlan County is a joke (sorry, Harlan folks), but Mayfield?

Did I say anything was wrong with western KY? Where did I say that? FYI, the whole of western KY is not contained within Mayfield proper.
As for what I'm basing my comments on.... I have been there many times, my family has been there many, many times; my husband has been there many times.....I have knowledge of Mayfield.

There are many other small towns in the area that are much nicer than Mayfield.

Although you will be able to get a house really cheap there!

Not that I have to give reason to anyone on how or where we decide to spend our money, but I will still play your little game!
What areas of Mayfield are you and/or your husband familiar with? I am just curious if this is based upon a drive thru on occasion, or time actually spent there?

We live in a very nice area where we currently are, however, there are still pockets in the south end of our town which I wouldn't live in! Doesn't mean I am going to make disparaging remarks about it!

For what it's worth we actually are quite familiar with Western KY and the towns/cities in the area, we used to come down there every year for a couple of weeks for vacation! My wife's Family is actually from the area (Lynn Grove to be exact!) and both she and her Mom went to MSU!

So as you can see this wasn't some NYer just coming down blindly, we had our areas selected and were looking for some input from folks that actually reside in the areas! We were looking for comments from people who have actually lived somewhere we were considering! As far as buying homes cheaply, you have no idea of what we are/were looking for, what we were looking to buy, or how much we are spending, so that comment is a moot point! For what it's worth, I saw quite a few "bargains" in some of the other areas as well!

... and now I am done playing your silly game!! Have a nice day!!
