How fast iss Danville growing? (Lexington, Georgetown: real estate, school district, college)

I have been reading your posts & they have been real helpful. I do have one question regarding Danville. My husband & I want to relocate to KY in 2007 (to get away from the traffic, big city & heat of Central Florida). What I want to know is this: How fast is Danville growing? My concern is that we move to a smaller city & in a year or 2; the smaller city is now on its way to being a bigger city. We don't mind a town that's on the upswing as opposed to the downswing but we don't want it to swing to quickly (i.e. what Georgetown seems to be doing - developments, etc).

We've been talking to a real estate agent but since it's his job to "sell" us on the city, I'd like to get some feedback from some local folk.

Also, if you could give me any input on the Danville Independent Public school system that would be great as well. Seems that the 2 elementary schools would be a good choice.

Danville seems to be growing more economically, rather than population-wise...with the vote to sell alcoholic drinks at restaurants, we've seen about five new restaurants come to down...The downtown is being majorly revitalized...a building at the main downtown intersection is being rebuilt as a surgery center, the hospital (which serves a pretty large area) is expanding downtown. Despite this though, we've had some industrial setbacks...Danville was a pretty big factory hub too but recently Panasonic closed its manufacturing and a few others have either closed or cut back too, so aside from the few new restaurants it doesnt seem that there will be much to attract new people to town. A few new subdivisions have been approved, but Danville isn't tooo big on fast growth so I dont think you should worry about the town growing too soon. I think one reason Danville isn't feeling the same boom as Georgetown and Lexington's other ring suburbs because its just far enough away and access to Lexington isn't quite as good to attract more and more people...in about 10 years or so they should be completing the slight relocation and expansion of US 27 (The road to Lexington) which might make commuting more desirable, so that's something to look out for in the somewhat distant future..Despite probably not growing so much, Danville has some heavy traffic for its size!
As for schools, I went to the Boyle County Public School District, which is a little larger than Danville Schools but probably just as good academically, however Boyle isn't very diverse at all. Danville Schools are probably better for their offerings of more broad studies and diversity as well. There are three elementary schools: Jennie Rogers, Hogsett, and Toliver. Each are in residential areas close to busy streets , with Toliver being right next to Centre College, but all three are nice schools!
