Kristy - check the Knoxville board. I believe that hiknapster was advertising for an auto job for her hubby's workplace in the Knoxville area. Heavens knows that we have malls with jobs here also!

Sure there are jobs, just not ones that pay what some folks feel they are worth. The cost of living in TN is much cheaper than many states but the wages are lower too. Some seem to associate that to "no jobs".
For example, my hubby could get paid almost double what he gets paid here if we moved to another state, but we don't want to live anywhere else. Are all fields paid half here than elsewhere? No, some even get paid more here than they did where they are coming from, it all just depends on the field I guess.

I'm writing from Springfield, Oregon and I have been in touch with different groups of people there in East Tennessee and the main problem is not that there are NO JOBS, but that there is not a solid work-ethic there. That people show up when they want to and do a job half-hazardly and expect no problems from that. We, too (family of 4) are moving there very soon (next week), but I have been doing research on the area and people there for 2 years now. Plus, I don't know what your faith is, but it helps to know and put your faith in God, and know what he's telling you to do....and then do it. With Him, an impossible situation can be totally possible.

Blessings on your move.

While I am in Knoxville, I can't imagine the Tri-Cities to be much different.

Out of the 16 people that were in my training class that started nine months ago, not one of them has quit. The people here come in everyday, and on time, and do an incredible job.

I'm kind of staggered that a person that has not even moved here yet is making disparaging remarks about the locals.

When I moved here 16 months ago from Florida I went through five interviews and received five offers, all of which were decent enough to live on. I took the best of the bunch then left that company nine months later, sent out a few resumes and attended three interviews resulting in three offers. There are plenty of jobs here, you just need to get out and look.

That's not an East Tennessee problem, that's an America problem and the society in which we live. Laziness doesn't recognize state boundries.
