Piper,
What about heat tape? Regular insulation wrapped around the pipes? We always had an old uninsulated farm house and wrapping the pipes with insulation helped some. If nothing works and you get frozen pipes then pull out the blow dryer and start blow drying the frozen pipe. It is 9 degrees here, brrrr.

Default weather

Well it made it down to 5 here in the Valley, now that's dowright cold!!! My dog loves it though.

Well, I'm on a new medication, Lyrica, anyone else take it? Its for Fibromyalia and also for nerve pain, seems to be helping(everywhere but my back) but it makes my mouth like cotton, wondering if anyone knows if the cotton feel goes away with time?

Hope no one's pipes froze, I know we lost power for a short time, enough to have to reset all the clocks and coffee pot, at least it wasnt off for days like I heard it was back around 96.

Stay warm guys, SMG, get better and get outta there, we are all pulling for you for a fast recovery, hospitals are not fun places to be.

Thanks guys!

Our pipes survived last night thank goodness. The dear housekeeping lady in my room today said that her heat pump went out last night but she just pulled out the electric space heaters and plugged them in and did ok. Thank goodness. She is 70ish and lives alone, I worry for her.

I get sprung on Monday. Yay! I also got to get out of the bed this evening and walk. I am one happy camper this evening.

I noticed that we should be up in the 50's in a week. Crazy huh?

Which is exactly why I want to move there! We had one day - about 10 days ago - where the temps rose to 33. Wow! One whole degree above freezing. And then it went right back down to the teens and this past week it went NEGATIVE. It's creating a real thorn in the backside trying to deliver flowers in this deep freeze.

Ah well, I'll keep reading the TN boards, especially this thread. It will remind me that nice temps (& even nicer people!) are on my horizon!
Have a good week everyone; SMG - so glad to hear you are up & around!

Piper- Go to Lowes or any hardware store and ask about heat tape. I haven't got a clue how it works, just know people use it in winter.
SMG- cool beans, you are getting sprung!
I just got back from a walk to the mailboxes and it was a brisk chilly walk that I never thought I'd experience here in Tn. I'll take that 50 degree weather any day it wants to appear.
Piper....Tn. awaits your arrival, we left the light on for you.

Glad to see that you were released on your own recognizance, SMG!

Yes, gailli. I just started taking Lyrica. I was on gabapentin. It worked great but then I had to take more and more until I blew up a balloon, water-retention and weight-gain wise. It also stopped working.

I've only been on Lyrica for two weeks on a very low dose and it is not working at all.

Not good times.

Hik, know what you mean but they do say Lyrica takes about a week to start working so I'm hanging in there with it, theres nothing else so dont have much to lose I guess, it also makes you gain though.

Hope everyone is having a good cold weekend, going to hook up a Router tomorrow and get my WII hooked up to the internet, should be fun then as I can play other people all over, even some of you if you have a WII.

Take care
