My wife and I are thinking of moving from Pearl, MS to a suburb of Knoxville. We don't know what sub we would like to move to but we are looking for something close to Knoxville but affordable, good schools, (we currently gross about 78K combined) and quiet. We are looking for towns with populations of about 30K. We thought about Oak Ridge but I just read scary stuff about how Oak Ridge is contaminated. Also, how is the air in Knoxville and the surrounding areas? We don't want to live anywhere with bad air after enjoying all of this fresh Mississippi air. Also what is the job industry like? My wife has been a medical lab technician for about sixteen years. I have a lot of different job skills but I have about eight years of experience in mental health. We both have some sort of college education, I have a B.S.

haras601, Knoxville has 187,000 in city and about the same in county. We are surrounded with many suburb areas, and all depending on whether you want to best west, east, north or south. All parts are an easy 20 to 30 minute drive, to most parts of the county. The Loudon area, just west of Knoxville, is only about 20 minutes to west Knoxville, and growing lots, with all the new shopping centers located on Hwy 321. Moderator cut: cut

"Close to Knoxville" could mean many things; if you worked at UT Med you could live anywhere from Fountain City to Dandridge; or if you landed a job at Baptist in Farragut (or whatever it's called now, still Baptist?) that would be a bit of a drive. Knoxville is a very long city (sprawled out along I-40)...

Default Let Me Clarify

Let me try to clarify. We desire to live outside o the city limits. Even though I have a bachelor's I desire to eventually get out of the field that I am in an pursue a career in paralegal technology until I can go to law school and pay as I go without taking loans. With that said, I want to be in a locale with a population of about 30,000 with affordable rents and a relatively family centered, quite way of life. I also want to be no farther than thirties minutes from a community college that offers an associate's degree in paralegal studies. I have heard some very god things about the Fountain City area but I would prefer to be outside the city limits (of Knoxville) but within a thirty minute drive of Knoxville but within a thirty minute drive.

Default houses to rent

There are lots of homes for rent right now, in and outside of KNoxville. I know there are a few Realtors that handle rentals, there are three 4 bedrooms right now for lease in Seymour, they are brand new, just built and just a few blocks from elementary and middle schools, dont know about the schools as I am a senior but I do know an entertainer from Pigeon Forge who's daughter just graduated from Seymour High, scholership and valevictorian, which is about 12 miles from Knoxville and the same from Sevierville and about 20 min to Maryville
