Isn't Black Mountain an ancient volcano? Yes, it's within the realm of possibilities, it erupts once again! And there goes Anthem!

About 10 years ago, there was a series of small quakes at the base of Mammoth Mountain in CA, ejections of steam, and there were fears that Mammoth was going to blow its top. And aren't we in the path of Mammoth? Ash raining down on the city?

There was a small earthquake about five years ago (don't remember the date). I moved here from San Francisco so knew the feeling when it happened. My house shook pretty good.

I think this is an "unknowable" answer. Earthquake prediction is pretty sketchy, at best. The other major cause for concern is Flash-Flooding. As they pave over the entire valley, lets hope the state engineers have planned carefully for this.

When I lived there, it got pretty bad at times, and people died. But the farthest road west was Durango at that time!

The seismologists have predicted that the largest magnitude quake Las Vegas could get would be a 6.8. And who are they to say! That 7.4 that struck 10-15 years ago in the middle of the Mojave Desert caught them all by surprise! So far away from the San Andreas Fault.

But even with a 6.5 quake here, you'd suddenly see For Sale signs around the Valley.

If it's Switch, it's pretty well known.

Edit: Gadzooks, I've been necroed. I need to remember to read the date on a post before I snap reply.

They have handled it in most parts of town. Plus, it never seems to rain anymore. I used to like those big old thunderstorms.
