I don't live in LV but R.C. Farms was on a recent showing of the Discovery Channel show "Dirty Jobs." The owner was eccentric but funny and very passionate about the hog farm. Some of the video shots showed houses encroaching the farm.

Part of me believes that someone wants this guy to relocate for development purposes

Nothing sub rosa about it. They have been after his arse for years. He has also done a reasonable job of cleaning up making it more difficult.

That was all lower end housing out there. The builders simplly had a disclosure signed that you knew that it could stink. That solves that.

It will be pretty hard to get near the farm with the present County Commission. Collins particularly is into his cowboy origins...which are real...but which he works as his political persona.

The City of North Las Vegas might sue...but you have to be careful because the County of Clark might defend.

It is actually fun to watch. I suspect we will still be talking about it in 10 years.

Need proof? Just drive by on Ann road inbetween Commerce and 5th St.
You will see the cattle. The 120F heat with no shade, living and covered in feces and unable to roam around is indeed a form of CRUELTY! It does not cost that much to correct the problem.
The very least that can be done is to provide some type of shelter for these poor animals.

Though he was there first, RC Farms needs to pack up and go.
This guy is just stubborn. I would take the money and relocate somewhere further out.
For him to stay there is disrespecting all the families that smell the poop daily. Growth can't be stopped anywhere in this land; for him to think so is just idiotic.

Oh please! Cattle go, and have gone, without shade in the 100 plus degree heat for centuries!!

Eat more meat - more demand for beef, less cows sitting around

It is this kind of thinking that makes humans cruel towards animals.
If left alone these animals would somehow find shade. If you pack 'em in, just provide the shade. Simple and not a costly solution.

Go out to open range territory - not much shade -

You have to be an east coaster

You are getting over into the anthropomorphic thinking that urban folk do when running into farm animals. My dog regularly chooses to nap on the concrete when it is 105 outside. The fact that a human would be uncomfortable has no bearing on an animal. It is common to provide shade for horses and calfs. I don't think it is done for adult cattle.

But again...turn him in to the proper authorities and let them deal with it.

East or west coast has nothing to do with this

You will be surprized how much shade a mid size bush can provide.

Somehow humans think they are so special. Just as we don't like sitting in the 120f, so do the animals. Don't think these animals were native to this type of heat to begin with.
