Out of all the "Im moving to Vegas" threads, what actually happens to all of these people?

They all should at least have the courtesy to let us know what they do with all of the advice we give them.

I was bored at work tonight and started randomly going through the "moving to Vegas" threads. Im sure I came across about 45 seperate threads while just going through the last few pages. I wonder if this is typical for other city threads?

Here are just a couple off of about 10 pages.(Las Vegas section has over 200 pages)

I would think that people would be more interested in information about Casinos, gambling and or entertainment in Vegas.

The way I see it, they just want advice on where to live, they get here, they pick a place we recommend and they are never heard from again. They don't want to be your friend, they just want info.
And some hate it with a passion, move away then come back on here and say how horrible it all is. At least those you hear from, even though we don't want to hear from them, and most of the happy one's sail off into the sunset.

My wife, daughter and myself love Vegas. I left a secure, high-paying job with excellent retirement to move here and open a auto repair shop and now I have no retirement (other than SS), no vacations, no health care, no nothing other than paying all the various government entities and my landlord (short list, 4k to get a commercial lease, 227$ for the health department, 150 for fire dept, 450$ for a tax permit, 200$ for the state license, a contract with Safety Klean for oil disposal, commercial electric rates, and I am sure I am forgetting other fees there have been so many, 500$ for a bond with DMV, and these are all annual fees--in my complex 4 auto shops have closed since I opened in October, and I think what happens is they open up, never pay rent, and when the state or county comes sniffing around about licenses, these guys close up and open again somewhere else.

Sorry to rant, as I make literally nothing except for paying my bills, but I am running my shop the right way and will not move back to Alaska (especially as my wife won't let me!)

Yes, even for all the hardships, we love it here.

I used the site as much as possible before I moved here and try to get on as much as possible now that I am here. Its been 2 weeks since my family got here and we all love it. My 7 yr old son especially. We found a great home in Seven Hills, 3br for $1150. I finally got my Drivers License in Nevada which was a challenge and was able to purchase a used 2005 Hyundai Elantra out the door for $8700. Next step is to register my son for school which I believe I have to do in August. He will be attending Wolff Elementary which from what I read is one of the nicer schoools here. It has been a very busy two weeks which is why my posts have dropped off.

Your right, it would be nice to get some closure on some of the posts.

As for me, I'm adjusting. Right now, it's not the best assignment we have ever had, but it definitely is not the worst. I'm still reserving my overall rating of Vegas to a later date. We have only been here 1 year. I think it takes 2 years to be fair.

I spent months reading these boards and got great info especially from OleCapt before we bought our home. There are many things I continue to learn about Vegas from reading these boards.

I didn't start a thread though about my own personal questions. I used other people's threads and fed those. I took the info and came out okay. I'm still on the board and occasionally try to be helpful.
