One thing I have noticed so far is the change in wagering on the slots. Minimal wager starts at .75 cents so the effect of this is 1. the .20 cent to .40 cent gambler will not use these machines which opens up the door for better pay offs because they do not sit there eating up good pay off combos and free spins while sucking down as much alcohol they can get. 2. Touch screen slots are next I have played in some slot tournaments where no buttons were used only the screen so change is coming.

Damned straight.

The difference with alcohol is that moderate levels are actually good for people. The problem is that far too many (and yes, I'm pointing a finger at a few people in this forum) are wasted before noon every day. You can watch their sentence structure collapse in their posts as the day goes on.

But most of these addictions have no positives at all. Smoking, for instance. Nicotine isn't even a particularly good high. Just a crippling physical addiction.

I'm a Gen X'er. I'm a gamer. I am telling you as a representative of my demographic that the typical casino game is completely uninteresting for my generation. Blackjack and poker? I'll play it once in a year, MAYBE. Slots? Why would I waste my time?

Games are a form of art that use music, visuals and story line to give an all encompassing experience. Making a Pac-Man clone and attaching it to some sort of randomized pay structure is not going to draw me in.

Maybe they'll bring back some forms of Solitaire or even add major board games - perhaps even linking players.

That doesn't make any sense either. Why would anyone want to play Mahjongg or Solitaire for money? How do you gamble on Parcheesi? The sort of people the casinos should be angling for (and that's a very apt term -- because they're fishing for addicts) are the sort of people who play Candy Crush and other "Freemium" games.

Casinos are never going to allow true skill games -- unless they make their money via a rake. For example, casinos cannot afford to allow chess hustlers to beat their dealers. Most of the games that gamers like make no sense to monitize. Skyrim for money? By the time it hits the casino, gamers will already be playing the next big game. Fallout 4, for instance.

That's why casinos are grasping at straws with their line-up of "low-brow cultural reference" slot machines -- like the inexplicably-weird Ellen DeGeneres slot machine.

I think slots is a dying gaming industry. Today's 50+ year olds think slots are fun but I certainly won't when I'm that age.

Table games like BJ, Craps, Pai-Gow and Baccarat may have a place 20-30 years from now. But probably not to the degree they are played today.

Use chess as an example -- the best chess players will always defeat the worst chess players. How is a casino going to attract the world's best chess players as employees, when they could just beat the casinos and make more money while setting their own hours?

It's the same with any skill game -- the best in the world at any particular skill are going to gravitate to what pays best with the least amount of effort. That's never, ever, 8-hour shift work.

Casinos want people who are just smart enough to work the machines but too dumb to see what's going on. That includes their workers and their patrons.

So casinos are going to try to revitalize their industry by emulating a dead industry? OK.
