Thinking about leaving wed night, and coming back on friday after thanksgiving. Any suggestions?

Preferably a quiet scenic place, maybe even a cabin near the outdoors if possible

5 hour max driving

Jerome, AZ. Minus the cabin, it fills your requirements.

(Although I'd check and see if anything there is open. Jerome isn't exactly what you'd call a normal town.)

Both are great and not too far from each other. You can stay at one and visit the other on route. Not sure what the accommodation availability or prices would be. We went on a Nevada Day weekend and loved it!

Any recs specifically on where to stay in Tahoe?

Thanks for the AZ suggestions. Jerome sounds interesting and Sedona is one we're thinking about too. The wife is now wanting more woodsy, so we may have to go north

Touché.

What's a short trip to me is not a short trip for others.

It would take more than 8 hours to get to Tahoe, especially at this time of year. I'd second the Sedona suggestion. We stay at the most beautiful Best Western in the west in Sedona. But I can't remember where we eat.
