Absolutely nothing. Nobody knows how to do large scale conventions like LV and it would take years of branding to match LV. Also Cal has enough problems trying to police the corrupt third party bankers being used in the card rooms.

HAHAHA love it

I moved here from there two years ago and living here still beats California with a stick. Best move I ever made. And yes I'm raising kids here, and yes they're doing just fine tyvm. I haven't read this whole thread because the first reply was a little bit nauseating. Vegas is great! I love this town!

Right. But, the people of CA still wouldn't allow certain things to happen there. I personally don't think it is just about going to a casino. It is the whole package. There are casinos everywhere and yet people still fly to LV. Who knows? I just don't think CA will do it, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Is unlikely that one city in the United States will be able to compete with Las Vegas alone. Atlantic City and Tunica are great places, but still don't offer the "whole package." Whats more likely to happen is many smaller entertainment districts in cities spread out across the country will spring up. The will have gambling, nightlife, dinning, shopping, etc, and along with the rise in tribal casinos, all that will pull business away from Las Vegas. It doesn't take that long for people to see what makes money. Others will want in on it. Just like any other city founded on a single industry, its hard to stay afloat. Like Nevada itself was founded on mining, when the gold and silver booms ended, those once bustling towns became ghost towns.

Definitely CA won't allow certain businesses to open. Even in San Francisco, it took years of petitioning to bring Target, Home Depot, and Lowes into city limits because the city feared it will take business away from small businesses and cause traffic problems. Sometimes they worry about useless problems when opening up these large stores that actually bring in more taxes, stimulate businesses in the area, and provide hundreds of jobs. But when you start looking at these more rural places out in the outskirts of town, governments may be more lax in offering business and gaming licenses to bring in revenue. Its hard to know if in 20 years if there will be anything special about Las Vegas anymore.

While true, every flight I go out on from Detroit is always full, doesn't matter what time, what day, what month. They even added more to Spirit's schedule. They have casinos there. But, they don't have much else, I guess! Except maybe people trying to get away from winter.

Hi:
Do any of the senior members know anything about the senior gated mobile home park? I am planning to move to Vegas next year and I was thinking about buying a mobile home in one of the area senior park. Does anyone know whether there is any hidden fees for living in gated areas. Let me know what you know.

This thread was created some time ago, however, I hope it has not pursuaded someone to move from Las Vegas to another location, especially without a employment. A person should not allow a thread to dictate where they should live.

I am sure the Californian politicians would be able to screw up even a business as profitable as gambling.
