I think it has one of the most rigerous academic classes, and I believe it offeres the most AP classes in the county. There are also several college fairs and several mini college visits during lunch. I love LVA and I would reccomend it to anyone serious about the arts. I know they're planning to cut the International Studies department in two years and move it to Del Sol High School because of budget cuts. As for the weird graduation statistics, it might be because of the amount of kids that drop out. There are some every year that can't handle the work load, but if you're dedicated it's definately managable. I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have!
thanks for the comments.....LVA sounds like very well-loved school.....but producing good spellers is not a priority, evidently....

Question LVA-2009 trip to NewYork?

Dear Members: I'm so glad I found this post! My daughter is a freshman at L.V.A. and I'm proud to say that she seems to be excelling both in Theatre and most importantly, academically. I say "seems to be" only because unfortunately, she & her mother moved to Vegas from Canada which means I see her less and communicating daily by phone is hard due to Time Zones, etc. Not to mention that, according to her mom, the curriculum is extremely rigurous and demanding, therefore taking up most of her time including weekends( I'm told that LVA gives out as much homework as your average universty). Which brings me to the following. I have been desperately trying to get info regarding a class trip to NYC this spring but the LVA website doesn't mention anything about it. I know that my daughter really wanted to go but changed her mind because she felt it was too expensive (God Bless her). I was hoping to surprise her on her B-Day by offering to pay for this trip but I need more details. I've made calls yet no response. Does anyone know what the deal is? Please help a lost Canadian...and thanks for reading

I'm a senior theatre major at LVA and I absolutely love it. I sincerely think that our school is the best in the valley. It's hard and very stressful at times but if you stick it out, it's the best experience. i wish that every high school student could have the opportunity to be exposed to such a great school.

to answer the New York trip question:
There is no trip this year. There was one originally but they had to cancel because not enough people signed up. They usually plan several trips over the year, but couldn't this year. Hopefully they will bring the trips back for next year though.

I'm a newly excepted Tech theater major at LVA and am super excited! I've heard so many great things about the school, and honestly, in Vegas, it is relly hard to find a good school with such high test scores and graduation rate. If I hadn't gotten in I probably would have moved to a diffrent state.
Be completely honest here, how hard is it to handle all honors classes, tech theater, and a couple of extra curicular classes on the side?
