FBI got him because he was a weak link. He worked in the count room, and handed over his share of the skim at the end of each shift. They all had to hand over a share. It's how business was done in that count room.

He was also a small man and a homosexual. Would you want to go to prison in the seventies or eighties under those circumstances?

I also have a friend whose dad was sold out by Goodman over this. He did ten years if I remember correctly. He agreed to take the rap after his daughters were on their way to school and found a bullet layed carefully in the driver's seat ( locked vehicle ) after paying Oscar a lot of money for his defense. No conflict of interest there, right?

I hope Spilotro is rotting in hell.

I'm familiar with this stuff from the books I've read in the past. The "sweet man" could have got out when he realized he was being strong armed.

I don't know if prisons had protective custody units back then.

The friend who was sold out should have gone to the FBI as soon as the bullet incident happened.

Spilotro was bad even by mob standards.

Well, I lived it. It is what it is. Part of our history.

My uncle also encountered some bad stuff because he had mob ties. When I read a book, I think it was Donnie Brasco, I was shocked to realize that there were pictures of me sitting on the laps of some of these characters at Disneyland when I was little.

We can try all we want to extract ourselves from our mobbed up history, but it's still here.

I doubt it was Donnie Brasco. Donnie was a pseudonym for a FBI agent in NY who infiltrated a NY crew. If I'm not mistaken Vegas was exclusively the domain of the Outfit (Chicago). Did your uncle have any interactions with Spilotro, Larry Neumann, Frank Cullota, "Lefty" Rosenthal, etc? Did he ever meet guys like "Big Tuna" Accardo, "Joey Doves" Aiuppa, Joey "The Clown" Lombardo, etc?

Quote from the book " that $@&@ porn guy out in Vegas." Ruben Sturman. He wasn't paying his tribute back to NY.

One of the people mentioned in this link was my uncle. And one of the people I loved most in this world. He testified. We got bomb threats.

For some reason I thought the Vegas guys answered to the Cleveland crew. Could be totally wrong tho.

I was in Vegas last weekend with a friend who, though she claimed to have been to Vegas a lot and knew everything about it, really didn't. She proved it when she said to me "So, what do you think about the people that claim the Mob ran Vegas? I mean, isn't that just silly? Do you think that is true?" I waited to see if she was kidding (she wasn't) and said "it is absolutely 100% true." I then showed her where the Mob Museum was. She had no idea.

The aforementioned Outfit guys may have told him to dust off NY and pay the Chicago boys instead. Or since porn itself is legal, maybe the guy paid tribute to NY instead of Chicago. I don't know. I haven't come across much info about the relationship between porn and organized crime.

If the bomb threats were from the mob, they were bluffs. It's against the rules.

I just added a new item on my "list of things not to do" list:

  • Call a mobster's bluff.

Uh, Ned Day and Harry Reid were both car bombed.

I don't think it was because they pissed off a cashier at 7-11. Just sayin.

Everybody thinks they are an expert on Vegas. It's a weird phenomenon. I know you did your research, but folks who spent the night at the Excalibur once think they are historians.

Hope to catch up next time you're in town.
