He can't say that in case they stay. Haha.

Believe it or not this goes way back probably to 1919 when gamblers fixed the World Series. Ever since then there has been a great fear by the leagues of any involvement with gambling. However, since then many things have changed. Gambling is available in many places not just Las Vegas. The NFL has played numerous games in London (and has a desire to place a team there) even though you can legally bet on almost anything in London. So, what may have made sense in the past no longer does. Even some of the NFL owners have admitted it should no longer be a concern.

This is the reality that will kill it.

I don't think there is anything new in that article. Probably the biggest stumbling block for getting the Raiders to move to Las Vegas is the financing of the stadium. I would like to see the Raiders move here but understand the opposition to public financing especially to a billionaire. My hope has been that this is just the opening gambit by Adelson and that he will eventually put in considerably more money.

Of course it's the biggest stumbling block. How can anyone think 2/3 of the legislative body would be won over in the face of such overwhelming evidence the deal is toxic to voters?

And if a special session is called for this, it will be a month or two before the election.

The Oaklanders up here seem convinced that the Raiders are leaving. Most of them have pretty much said they'd rather set their own hair on fire than have a tax increase to fund a new stadium for a billionaire.
