What you're saying is likely correct. If a better room is going to sit empty, they can use it to buy some customer satisfaction. They consider the fact that he front desk gets a spiff from the customer irrelevant.

Agreed. The casinos and other things make them so much more money.

And the $20 trick is probably not AS popular as we think they are. In the handful of times I've been to Vegas I've never seen another person who did this and most people seem just want to checkin quickly and get to their room.

Disney does NOT charge a resort fee to guests at those hotels.
It does not operate those two hotels.

The Dolphin is a Sheraton and the Swan is a Westin Property.
Those fees are charged by Starwood Properties.

Disney had considered, but has never implemented resort fees at their own hotels.
The new Four Seasons on property also carries no resort fees.

We waited almost 20 minutes for the 3 cars in front of us to figure out how to pay...not good for elderly and drunk drivers.
I've seen the one lane out problem at Aria. They normally have two lanes in, one out. I guess they don't want you to leave in a hurry

Coming soon to a casino near you, drive thru slots while you wait in line to exit the parking garage

Okay - I'll change my statement to even some properties such as the Dolphin and Swan on Disney property charge resort fees.

But it doesn't change the fact the vast majority of visitors don't know that Disney doesn't run the hotels - if it's on property then in their minds, Disney owns it.

Dayyyyum.

Now I think it may also be because it's a sunday night and staying into the week is probably cheap.

For some reason this week hotel rates were fairly cheap when I was checking. Next week, which is when I'm going for Tue to Fri, the rates are bit higher. The week after the rates are astronomical as is expected due to the Mayweather fight that week.

I'm gonna try for a $50 tip at the Cosmo and hopefully I can get upgraded to my room of choice:
-1 Bedroom Terrace with Fountain View at the Boulevard Tower
OR
-Wraparound Terrace Suite with Fountain View at the Boulevard Tower

Living in Las Vegas since 2005, I fear for those who enjoy shopping and PAYING for things at Fashion Show and can see that mall instituting some sort of paid parking with validation. I rarely venture to the Strip and on those rare occasions it feels to me that I've traveled across the country to visit instead of 12 miles that I can see from my patio.

For me, I think that UBER & Lyft might be the way to go, since using that, I can have a few drinks and such and not worry about DUI. Prior to Uber & Liyft, the Strip was a "Mormon" night out on the town. I refuse to even take a sip and drive. A DUI under any circumstances is not worth it. Now, I can just pull out the phone and click a car to and from home. So, for the paid parking at the resorts; go for it.

I posted this in another thread. Re-posting here.

Stayed at TI two weeks ago. Took advantage of their on-line reservation promo...basic room, two nights for the price of one.

Had never done the $20 trick before but read that TI was one of the best places to try it. After tossing and turning the night before wondering if I should really give it a shot, I decided to go for it. Walking up to the desk I sandwiched a $20 between my credit card and driver's license, bit my lip, wiped the sweat from my brow and handed the "sandwich" to the desk clerk and asked if any upgrades were available.

Honestly, she was so nonchalant about the whole thing, as if this sort of thing happens all the time. She said, "Let's see what we can do." I glanced at my wife and we both had a look of, "Holy crap...it just might work."

She ended up offering us a King Suite, two bathrooms (one with a fabulous spa tub), huge living area, etc. Again I looked at my wife in disbelief. We couldn't thank her enough and scurried off before she changed her mind or the Front Desk Supervisor would come over and put the kibosh on the deal.

Two nights in a suite for the price of one night in a basic room...plus $20. Best $20 I ever spent in Vegas...

^^^Nice. I saw that I think in the $20 trick thread. VERY good value for $20.

I'm booked at the Cosmo for 3 nights next Tuesday and hoping a $50 sandwich will get me a nice upgrade!!
