Easiest way to stay up to date on a city's current events is to type the City in on Google every few days and hit the News tab. You can have an idea of what's changed in less than 5 minutes.

We come to visit a few times a year and try to always visit our future neighborhood for lunch at least and to drive around a bit. Sometimes we stay there rather than the strip. I read the Review Journal every day. I am trying to reconnect with some old friends who live there.

Curious of some things one can do in preparation for their move to LV in your opinion. Things to help acclimate them to their future home!?

Thanks in advance for any great suggestions you may have.
Prepare yourself for the heat of summer that LV has to offer, as well as the cold winters; no snow, but after the blistering summers 40s will seem dang near cold.

A bunch of my in-laws, moved there from the NE years ago; get ready for Dry Eye and possibly Sinus problems, to escape the cold winters, brother-in-law goes to Yuma for Winters. He told me it may be 112 but it’s a dry heat, yea...like sticking your head in an oven...all the best.

I love the summers personally. I know they’re not for everyone or even most people, but I just love the heat. I’m the polar opposite of most people - I don’t consider 75 to be “perfect weather,” it’s acceptable and beats cold weather but I far prefer 90+. I want it hot, I don’t want “moderate” weather. The dry heat makes a big difference to me, I don’t even think it feels that hot until it hits 105+. Even that 105-108 isn’t bad, it’s just the days over 110 that are admittedly a bit brutal if you’re not used to them. It’s the same temperature inside as any other day though, and that’s where most people spend most of their time anyway.

I rarely agree with you but there's a first for everything. I feel just about the same about the heat. About 85 is perfect to me. A quick warm up to 85 as I don't like it 45 in the AM or at night. T-shirt weather 24/7 is perfect to me.

We had a friend move from Iowa to Dallas. When we asked how she handled the summer heat she said, "We switched seasons. In Iowa we went out in summer and stayed in in winter. In Dallas we go out in winter and stay in in summer."

Today we played Bocci Ball. The temps in the low 70's upper 60's were perfect. Everyone else was mentioning it got cold when the sun went down. I was in heaven. Perfect weather - says the guy from Iowa.
