I am a planner. I enjoy looking forward to things. Most likely moving to LV in 2022. I know it's still 2.5 years away but I am in countdown mode. Enjoying life here but looking forward to something different in 2.5 years. We come to visit a few times a year and try to always visit our future neighborhood for lunch at least and to drive around a bit. Sometimes we stay there rather than the strip. I read the Review Journal every day. I am trying to reconnect with some old friends who live there.

Curious of some things one can do in preparation for their move to LV in your opinion. Things to help acclimate them to their future home!?

Thanks in advance for any great suggestions you may have.

Ha I was the same way. Kept my mind half way on Vegas long before I moved here this month. I also read the Review Journal a lot. For me what kept me most in touch with Vegas and feeling like it was my future home is the Vegas Golden Knights. Watching every game, collecting signed photos and merchandise, and listening to SinBin podcasts almost made me feel like I was here already.

Funny. I have been watching since day 1 and that miracle run to the finals definitely was amazing... and I am not even a huge hockey fan. Have tickets for a game in a couple months.

I did the same thing before I moved.

Read the Review Journal, LVSun, city-data of course, Lasvegasadvisor.com, vegasmessageboard.com, vegasfanatics.com. I also kept looking at realtor.com, and sevenhillshomes.com to see what was out there.

Also checked out What's On magazine and Las Vegas Weekly. Probably the hands down most information though I got was through this website. It has helped me numerous times and I am very thankful for all the information the posters have given me.

Yeah I’ll be honest I wasn’t a hockey fan at all before the first game. I started watching with Game 1 and decided I’d try to get into it, and it rapidly became my favorite sport to the point where I find it hard to watch something like basketball. I still watch all 4 major sports but my team in basketball mostly just brings disappointment decade after decade (Blazers) so I’m hoping Vegas gets a team one day so I can jump ship. I didn’t think I’d become such a fan of the Knights. The first game was a blur trying to learn rules and names and wondering, “Am I going to be able to get into this? It feels so foreign.” I had watched playoff hockey a good deal in the distant past, I rooted for the Avs in the late 90s and early 2000s, but I couldn’t really remember everything. Then by the end of that first game I was hooked. Two years later almost I had amassed a collection of 23 signed pieces including a team signed helmet and photo from the first year, jerseys, 10 T-shirts, even my wedding ring is Golden Knights! I went to two games the first year in the Glass Section, February 13 and 15, both wins. I didn’t go to a game last year, much harder not being a local haha. This year I better get to go to a few games!

city-data is wealth of information for most major cities. I used it when moving to Chicago, Naples, FL and Las Vegas.

I use these websites:

https://www.reviewjournal.com/

https://lasvegassun.com/index.html

https://lasvegasweekly.com/index.html

https://www.vegas.com/

https://vegas.eater.com/

Good luck!

The Golden Knights are a bunch of parachutists if you ask me.
