A experimental plane taking off from NLV Airport crashed into a home at Lake Mead/Simmons. 2 inside the home are dead along with the pilot. Apparently the plane never caught altitude and went down into the home.

There's been so many accidents from NLV airport. Living near it is a risk, but anywhere in the valley is a risk with all the air traffic we get. I really feel for the guy that lost his parents this morning.

Some weekend warrior who had no business flying an experimental over populated areas. The FAA needs to regulate this crap. To put your own life in your hands is one thing...

This is sad for sure.

I think about that every night as I sit on my balcony looking at the huge amount of air traffic in the distance. But Detroit's air traffic can be crazy too, it is just that it is cloudy alot and you can't always see them. Pretty sure they are mostly planes departing-FAST!!

He was a heavy professional ...and it was not his plane. Lots of strange stuff. Supposedly had only five hours on the airframe since certification in 2002.

Nothing computes. Likely have to wait for the trade press to find out what actually happened.

It's a sad story and I in no way blame those poor folks including the pilot for what happened. BUT, why would anyone buy a house at the end of an airport runway. For that matter why would the city allow them to be built? When that airport was built there wasn't a house within five miles. Why surround it with houses now?
