I can think of some things, but not to last that long. Expensive long flight, so might as well make vacation last as long as you can!
So where did you find English Dave and English Judy at? What casino? I am hoping we still make it down there on our anniversary on wednesday.

We just got hit with yet another headache with our place. Some weird leak coming out of a vent connector that seems to go up to the roof? Water started leaking from the kitchen ceiling around noon today, little drips. We don't know what to do at the moment, but now we have a big square hole in our kitchen ceiling since we called the plumbing company that re-did all the piping, thinking it was from their work. It would be nice as a skylight, except we still have an upstairs above it. So they made the hole, checked it all out, said it wasn't their problem, and said that's all they can do, and we have to find the problem ourselves, and fix the damage, etc. Wonderful.

But anyway, glad you found him. At least someone got to meet him so far. I hope to still make it down there, but we need to fix this problem first. I am hoping the last 2 months of this year are much better than the previous 10 months. Been a sucky year!!

Pink: Isn't my understanding you're in a new dwelling up there in Aliante, new piping, all these problems, I'm confused?

I've never had these kind of problems in my townhouse which is over 40 years old now.

Household problems of that kind are so annoying and frustrating, especially if it's a newer house.

It's almost 8 years old. But still new enough. I think since this is one of thousands of places they tossed together really fast in the boom years before everything went to hell price wise, they just did not do a great job in building it. The same can be said for just about every new house from the boom years.
This is the first time I have been a home owner, and it's not all it's cracked up to be in some ways. One of the things I do like about being a home owner, no one can tell me that I can't have cats without a stupid pet rent fee every month and the "rent" never goes up each time the lease runs out. We are our own landlords. Unfortunately, when things go wrong, we get stuck fixing it.

I know I saw a conversation on here not long ago, before OleCapt got the boot, and it was about the re-piping they did all around the valley, and the re-piping was not holding up due to the hard water. They re-piped everyone's home's with plastic pipes! I never thought that was a good idea at all, but they assured us that is the latest thing. I wonder if it's connected to that in some way. Now we have to get a plumber out here that doesn't charge a ton, and find the source of the leak and do it asap!
The guy that cut a hole in the ceiling said he has a friend that would check and do the work cheaper, but he doesn't speak much english. I think I see where this is going....
I told my husband the person should be licensed and bonded from what I heard. And I don't want to get ripped off by someone that *thinks* they know how to fix it. Husband will go for the cheapest route and does not want to call insurance. I say call insurance because it could be from the re-piping even though the company said it isn't them. And the guy they sent out wasn't even a plumber, so how the heck does he know what it is from? So he shone the light up there and took a video, but no one physically went up there and checked for wet spots!

You were supposed to find English Dave and take his photo.

Even though you don't pay any pet rent you still have to pay for what ever your cats damage. So instead of paying pet rent to the owner(you), you will pay in a lump sum to cover the loss of furniture, table, walls...etc.

Pink: Even when I moved here 15+ years ago I had a suspicion, then, about newer construction and I can only imagine how the quality suffered during the big boom period here. But then, I was determined to live in Central, in an older area, come hell or high water.

Before that, I bought a house in an historic district of Phoenix, built 1939, which was semi-rehabbed, and I did have to put in new underground piping from the house to the alley, but no big deal then, only $600.

The place I have my mind set upon in Tucson, is a well-constructed cinder-block co-op/townhouse complex built in 1962. I've looked at the spacious units, well-built. Being it's a co-op, not a condo, you have to be approved by the board to live there, no rentals allowed!

Just got back from a memorable 3-hour walk on the Strip (Fashion Mall/Venetian/TI) with my ferret Stripper. Met lots of nice people, lots of photo's.

Going back to the parking ramp at TI, some attractive woman, all decked out in leather, stopped her car to inquire about the animal I was walking. Leather gear, handcuffs on the front passenger seat. She must be working as a dominiatrix on the Strip, and she must do well, as she's got an expensive car. What me and Stripper don't run into on the Strip early hours of the morning!

He also recommended brushing the tongue too.

Great idea!!!

"brushing the tongue", sounds like a kinky euphemism
