I'm continually surprised by the kind nature of the people on this board. They take time to dig up links and information for total strangers and often learn details about them.

It's odd that we'd be thinking of some internet person that we've never met in real life, and yet you see it here all the time. I find myself doing the same thing from time to to time. Right now I am thinking of one of the board newbies, Rmalik. She's on her way here from Texas. I hope she has a smooth trip.

I agree with you NLVgal. I love Vegas and check this forum regularly. I'm amazed at the kindness shown by the residents when asked the same questions continually, and how patiently people respond in an effort to help others they haven't met.

I actually worry about some of the posters that haven't been posting lately. I've been worried about LVD. He has such a kind heart, I hope he's doing well. I was glad to see Pink post and wonder about MacGeek. It's funny how you just get used to seeing certain names pop up...and then they are gone. It makes me smile when Davie checks in.

A poster from another state I watch has stated he will be losing his leg shortly. It literally made me cry.

I think our Nation is going through numerous changes right now and it is easy to focus on the differences we have rather than recognizing and embracing our commonalities. It saddens me that our focus often times gets hung up on the negative when there are so many positives to consider.

Well, this is why I lurk rather than post, LOL. I never seem to shut up! But I do want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a very Happy New Year. Thank you all for what you do for others out of the kindness of your heart.

My plans were never definate for January, it was always January at th EARLIEST. And now, who knows? And it may not be Vegas. I was there last weekend and it was COLD!

Waiting on a blizzard to arrive here later today. 9-12 inches of snow, 30-45mph winds. ugh. Needless to say, I am NOT happy right now, and should bee downright angry when I am shovelling that ugky white sh...crap tomorow!

Thanks for asking.

ElleTea, I feel for you about the blizzard. This is why my family moved to Florida from Connecticut back in 1995, the previous winter was very cold and snowy and my father had just had it. We lived in Connecticut again from 2001-2006 and the experience was the same, lots of snow, too much cold. So here we are in Orlando again

Im hoping (big key word) that I can get out to Vegas around the end of April beginning of May. I know CSN's summer classes start the first week of June, which is when I hope to start school

I'm strongly considering going to school online now. A good friend of mine who I met when I worked at Prestige Chrysler Jeep Dodge got a job at Las Vegas Limo (owned by Frias), and when my move date comes closer, wants to get me a job there as well. He also has an apartment off Summerlin Pkwy and Buffalo which he plans to transfer the lease to me hopefully in July. The limo driving gig would be full time, and according to him he never makes less than $100 a day even on slow days (thats his pay and tips combined).

So hopefully if I get the limo driving job, and the money he claims I can make is true, it looks like not only will I have a job, but my own place as well. In Summerlin of all places too I'll probably stay there for 6 months or so and then return to Centennial where I REALLY want to live

All I can say is we'll see. I need the end of the year to get here so I can find out exactly how much stock Publix gave me over the past 9 months since I returned. Otherwise I may wait until fall classes and I don't want to do that

You know we only get a few months of cooler to colder weather. From April to mid December, the temps are more to your liking. Can you say the same about Iowa?
Now if you were interested in Riverside,Ca where your friend lives, you would probably like it. It gets hot there as well, even better, Palm Springs. Then it's just a short ride to Las Vegas anytime.

The Midwest had a terrible drought last year, you people up there need all the precipitation you can get to bring things back to normal! Now say Thanks to Mother Nature!

We arrived in Vegas early November and found the month to be one of the most pleasant ones we have ever experienced here. Just beautiful. December, not so much, but we are adjusting. It has been unseasonably warm back home in IN, but we all know it won't stay that way there and we much prefer NOT shoveling snow.
We are very, very happy with our condo; have been keeping busy and have not spent all our money or time in the casinos. We don't go to the Strip often, but did visit the beautiful Bellagio conservatory.
So much to do here. And yes, we learn a lot from this site.
Thanks to a poster suggestion on here we are using LabCorp for my mother's blood work and the people there are very nice.
I'm sure I will have more questions and maybe even a few answers as we get more settled.

We are STILL in a drought, actually. So much that we could have to start rationing water. But preciptation can be UN frozen and still help.

Rain=good
snow=BAD

There is a drought here in Florida too, although not as bad as the midwest, Georgia and most of the deep south is in pretty bad shape though. The Orlando area is 9 inches below where we should be this time of year, and we have only had one good rain in the past two months or so. A lot of small lakes and ponds are drying up here

Hopefully you guys in the midwest see an improvement real soon.

Same goes for Las Vegas too. Hopefully there is a lot of snow this season like in the 2010-2011 season to send down the river into Lake Mead.

Does snow melt from Mt Charleston go into Lake Mead too via the washes?

I read last year, the drought was so bad in St. Louis, basement floors were cracking, for the first time ever! Now that's scarey, scarey! Not enough Precipitation this year, it could be a disaster, for the whole country!

I'm just happy to see lots of rain/snow fall in California, as we depend on California for so much of our produce! And the rest of the country!
