I havent hear anything good about Circus in years......my vote is for HUGO's Cellar or BINIONS.....Binions has the best view and both have OUTSTANDING food.

You get what you pay for, so if its just you, and you don't mind slumming one night, Ellis Island can be your place. Rest assured however, you will impress no one or give them a positive experience by taking them to Ellis Island.

Seriously, a complete dive

thanks for the ideas....did eat at Ellis Island once and it seemed a decent "real" place...

yeah, the Golden Steer was a place I'd already heard about here....

LAS VEGAS HISTORY - RAT PACK ERA BARS, RESTAURANTS & HOTELS (http://www.latimemachines.com/new_page_9.htm - broken link)

looks like a great "old Vegas" place....scroll down to its listing...I don't know what the "T"s mean, but it gets five of them and I think that's a good thing...this website producer is into the old-fashioned stuff I like....

looks like Binion's is still holding its own!....I like views, too.....

thanks for all comments

I have always had VERY good luck with Bob Taylors...it's usually refered to as Bob Taylors Ranch House because someone [I think it was the guy that owned the strip joint] tried to steal the name at one time.....

I second hugo's cellar in the Four Queens. It has been around forever. It is dark, old fashioned booths or tables. They give roses to the ladies. The have a sommolier (spelling??). They give a sherbert to cleanse your pallet before your main course, they give a free tray of chocolate covered fruits at the end. Prices are decent for a nice steakhouse.

Hugo's Cellar is quite good, but can be pricey.

The Steakhouse at Circus Circus has the best prime rib, not as pricey as Hugo's but you have to deal with kids everywhere to get to the entrance.

Bob Taylor's is good food at a reasonable price.

The Golden Steer is next on my list.
